Yes , We know you are way smarter than Tim Murray and the entire Sabres scouting staff . After all they went and watched all these prospects live and reviewed hundreds of hours of video tape . But they are all fools. . Why that fool Pegula allowed Lafontaine hire Murray is beyond me!

- Maximum Signal

We all essentially claimed to be smarter than Darcy Regier, and Ron Rolston both of whom also spent hours of tape, yet still failed miserably in the end. Nobody had a problem with anyone saying that (nor should they have). Murray hasn't accomplished anything yet. It's one thing to be hopeful. It's another thing to have blind faith and a "how darest thou question he who has no track record yet" attitude. Making a couple moves to get fans to make a "Zero F#cks Given" T-shirt doesn't automatically make him a great GM.

We have a good blogger who uses spell check.

Everybody is a know it all and their opinion is fact.

The squirrel trolls his own team and is an alt.

Another great summer in the 716 and my golf game is better than homies...

I'm still the best poster and my opinion trumps all.

Ville Leino is gone.

The end.

No they actually put the frequent flyer miles to use and watched these players live . Darcy was the big proponent of video tape . We know you are smarter than all of them too . We know you won't be happy till there is a Stanley cup parade . Then they will screw up the parade route no doubt. No need to get squirrley . The fact is there is an actual plan in place . And us simple folk can even see the implementation of that plan . And it gives us all some hope that maybe things are being done right this time . But by all means , rain on our parade.

You're barking up the wrong tree (pun intended).

Also, the notion that Darcy Regier and his staff did zero in-person scouting when he implemented the video method is blatantly false.

Darcy had the same plan in place. He was fired for doing what Murray is doing

He's right, Murray has done very little to this point

Disclaimer: I'm happy that he's our GM and Darcy is gone, but we had no problem assuming every move Darcy made was wrong while assuming every move Murray made is the right one

Not the same plan at all . Darcy rushed the kids up here instead of properly developing them. It is Darcy's plan with more thought and effort put into it. Darcy was following the Edmonton template.

Darcy's negatives outdid his positives, i.e. Leino Contract, paying Myers too much to soon, not tearing down the team long ago, icing an AHL team, screwing up Grigorenko, bad draft positions in the 1st round for years, etc. etc. etc.

Glad he's gone. However Murray could still be worse. There are no results to judge.

Murray has the benefit of no expectations for his first year or 2

Believe it or not, so am I. I just reserve the right to hold him under the same scrutiny that I did Darcy Regier. The fact that he's more brazen when talking to the media and the fact that he's virtually stuck a few middle fingers in the air while making some personnel decisions absolutely does not change that at all.

The only one you could make that argument with is Ristolainen.

They were stuck between a rock and a hard place with Grigorenko (granted, that was partially his own fault).

Zadorov hadn't finished his 9-game try-out. We have no idea if Regier would have sent him back to Juniors or not.

Pysyk was already one of the team's six best defensemen, and leaving him here wasn't going to help his development.

The problem lied more with the vets refusing to play for Rolston. Which IMO was part of Reigers master plan of ensuring a last place finish

Murray has a different idea of what it takes to win in the nhl in 2014 and beyond. We now have a truckload of assets up front that should easily make our second, third, and fourth lines formidable in a few years. Still not sure that we have the parts for a top shelf first line. Theres guys in the organization- Reinhart, armia, grigorenko, maybe ennis, that could become first line talents, but I still think murray needs to have this year go according to plan to get the top line talent.

Absolutely.

Regier pretty much publicly stated that's what he was going to do. He essentially said "fine, you want me to blow it up, I'm going to blow it up". And he did. That first month and a half assured them of one of the top 2 picks, which was what he had intended.

The one thing Darcy was good at was acquiring talent. He just never fully had the luxury of a couple years of no expectations to see it through.

Lets not kid ourselves, the prospect pool that many of us have been raving about before this draft....was the talent Darcy accumulated

I think Murray has done a lot for the short time he has been a gm. This is the biggest offseason buffalo has had in 20 years.

He's definitely more respected around the NHL IMO. Whether that's because of his work ethic with scouting or just because of who his uncle his, we without a doubt have more credibility

I agree that for the last few years of darcys reign that the sabres started to go in a different direction. Not sure how much was darcy and how much was devine. I feel like we now have the advantage of another gm with no ties to those players to objectively evaluate and move forward.
