I'm not saying Lindros is a great guy. I'm just saying that from reading Stewart's blog I get the impression that his stories may not be accurate. I get the impression that he's most concerned with making himself look good. I'm not sure he's doing it on purpose. I think he just has a very skewed perception of things. Just read his latest blog. It's supposed to be a tribute to a great NHL figure, but turns into an article about what a clever funny guy Stewart is. I kind of agree with Lindros here. You're a ref...just drop the f'ing puck.

Like him or hate him, Keenan was the second best coach in team history for the period he was here.

Key words there are.."While he was here". He only was here for 4 years and he was too head strong with his Micro managing style. He played too many head games. There's a reason why he was fired so many times. IMO, he doesn't deserve to be among Flyer legends bye no means

Supposedly, Lindros was on Preston & Steve (my wife told me) on Friday and was asked about something involving "some ref." I'm assuming this was the story, which he said was 100% not true. Wish I could provide more details.

That said, he was definitely a baby during his first few years. Why he wasn't fully matured like most 19-22 year olds completely baffles me.

Right. I know I was completely mature, level headed, never did anything wrong when I was 19, and I wasn't even famous, rich, incredibly talented or the "next one".

You don't have to go back along way in terms of finding former Flyers who made us a solid faceoff team. It seems like we were best at it when we didn't put much stalk in youth.

The 2004 team that featured Roenick, Primeau and Handzus were good. If you wanna go back to I wanna say 2001 or 2002 just before getting Handzus we had Adam Oates for a small stint who was very solid at the dot.

It seems like after the 2004-05 lockout we made the smart decision to go younger but with that came growing pains. Mike Richards became good over time. I wish I could remember the year, the date and the game but I'll never forget a faceoff loss by Richards where he seemed more interested in telling his players on the ice where to be, not paying attention to the faceoff and the ref pretty much dropped the puck without him. I'd never seen anything like that before but I suppose gotta keep things short and sweet.

Carter became very good on faceoffs but nearing his end as a Flyer, Carter was seeing a lot of time on the wing with Giroux showing signs that he was best suited in the middle. I get the feeling someone is gonna wanna debate me on this but yes, Jeff Carter was seeing a lot of Wing his last season as a Flyer, regardless of how good a faceoff man he was.

It seemed to me our best chances at winning faceoffs since the youth movement began always came from a fourth line vet. Blair Betts. Jimmy Dowd. Adam Hall.

I was also wondering that even as I was at the game. Sure, he was a big part of the Cup teams' image, but there were far more players who (IMHO) have been more important in the history of the club.

I love that Hexy hasnt done anything as silly season is coming to an end

I agree with this ... and I definitely think Stewart's blogs leave a lot to be desired. Trying to make yourself look good by criticizing others isn't the best way to go about things - and he tends to do that quite often.

As far as this particular story, Stewart's question of "Hey, Eric. How are things going? How's your dad?" could easily have being taken the wrong way by Lindros at the time, and prompted Eric's response. The how's your dad part especially, said with a bit of sarcasm, would make Lindros feel defensive about the involvement of his parents in his young hockey career. Stewart makes it sound like an innocent question, but something tells me there was more to the story. At the very least, I think Lindros might have perceived it as a bit of a jab at the fact that his dad was so involved - even if Stewart didn't intend it as such.

No doubt 88 was a bit of a brat at that age, just like a lot of young superstars are. But Eric has done a lot of good for hockey since his retirement, and he should definitely be in the Flyers HOF.

I know leclair had some big goal totals but to me he was a huuuge beneficiary of Lindros's playmaking. Without lindros leclair always looked average.

Tocchet despite his departure after first stint and off ice shenanigans should be in the flyers hall. Guy was a more complete player than say leclair.

It was seldom he was on the ice and not controlling the flow of the game. Thats a guy right there that cannot be blamed for his team falling short. Such a shame his last shift here and how it ended but i think if if that hit didnt happen the flyers win that series and then who knows. Either way he deserves to be in.

I disagree. Eric Lindros was often out with injuries and LeClair still managed to produce. Even after Lindros sat out for a season or moved on. It really wasn't until LeClair missed most of one season with a serious back injury where he was never the same. He never skipped a beat with that accurate wrister and deadly slap shot but the speed was lost after he hurt his back. Not that he was a speedy guy to begin with.

Perhaps, but it was Schultz who gave the team it's much needed identity as it turned to corner from an average expansion club team to a Stanley Cup winner. As Mr Snider searched for players who would/could not be pushed around anymore after getting literally broken by the StL Blues, it was Schultz who initiated the turnaround.

He gave the team a new image, a new confidence, not to mention a lot of room to allow players like Clarke, MacLeish, Flett, Leach, Barber, and Watson showoff their tremendous talents.

What's the real testament to his lasting effect on the identity, or the image that Schultz brought to the Flyers, over 40 years later, they still carry the burden (for lack of a better word) of being one of the most hated teams in the NHL.

The interaction between he and Stewie sounds a bit contrived. It just seems strange that a player would interact with an official in that way without something prior happening. The fact that the only other person who can verify the poster story has denied it, makes me think it's not entirely true.

My friend's dad was the architect for Lindros' house when he first came to Philly. He said Lindros was a very friendly guy and invited the whole family over for dinner the day construction was complete. My friends said he was really nice and even played some hockey with them in the driveway. Their only regret was saying no when he asked if they'd like to be the first ones to use the Lindros Bathroom. I still ridicule them today for saying no.

Most of the guys Bill mentioned are deserving. I would like to see Watson, Lindros, Homer, McCrimmon and Desjardins get in sooner rather than later.

The few times I met the guy he was down to earth and nice. He had a house just over the bridge in Longport and used to be out and about on occasion.

Just like any famous person, it gets to be a hassle when everyone is looking for a piece of you. But it seemed to me that if you were nice and treated him with respect, you got the same in return.
