Wish that damn transfer rule was not there. He is fast enough , smart enough for sure . Wish he could spend a little time in the AHL and get called up on ocassion. But the pounding scares me . If he has having to take a maintenance day today after just a scrimmage . It worries me a bit.

The AHL is not less physical. In fact the hits are dirtier..... Just ask Girgensons

Has that really ever bothered us as much as it has the last few years?? Ugh....so frustrating to either have someone in over their head a bit too much vs having them have no real competition....

Mentally ready is not physically ready . If the kids body cannot take the pounding that is dished out in the NHL why do you keep him here . To get a career ending injury . He had to take a maintenance day after the scrimmage . He is get pounded a lot worse than that.
- Maximum Signal

I knew and jokingly posted when news broke out of a maintenance day that everyone would be ready to torch him for not being ready because he needed the day off.. We don't know the reason yet why.. Lets wait to hear that before leading a gang of pitchforks.

We have no idea that it has anything to do with Girgensons' hit. He could have tweaked his knee, pinched a nerve, or did something to his groin for all we know. Hell, he could have a temperature of 101 for all we know.

Sorry to nitpick, but someone saying "I don't think he will" can never be wrong.

Great point. Girgensons got freight-trained during his development stage. He turned out fine. It's, like you said, all about how he reacts to the hits. Who knows how Girgensons hit him and what it could have jarred. He could have a nagging injury we don't know about that isn't 100%. There are many factors that are in play here.

I think it's more likely that Reinhart will stay with the team. He knows what he needs to do to stay here and if it's adjusting to bigger hits, I'm sure there is a way to train for that.

This is all speculation. He took 1 hit from Girgensons. I'd hardly say that's enough evidence to say he's not physically ready.

Ryan Nugent Hopkins played (and Produced) with an even smaller frame than Reinhart, as long as he can learn to properly absorb a hit he will be fine

- sbroads24

I thought Nuge has turned out to be a little frail . I don't want this kid for 60 games a year . I want him for 80

Reinhart and Ekblad were the two that were labeled as "NHL ready" IMO if he's up to speed mentally, he's here

If it was the Girgensons hit, then the kid is pretty tough because he didn't miss any of the scrimmage. He played the whole game and that hit took place probably about half way through the 1st.

Nobody leading anyone with Pitchforks . Concerned for the kids physical well being . No shame in not being physically ready yet. I see no reason to risk a number 2 pick just for making some folks happy , that he has to be here. For what ? Are we making a cup run next year ? I could care less if he stays or goes down . But I don't want him up here if he is not physically ready yet to keep the masses happy.

Murray won't keep him here to get him killed. If he isn't ready, then he won't be here. Murray is not doing things to make fans happy. He's building a winning team. He has a vision and will not let the media dictate that.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here.

Reinhart has already played 3 years in Jr. You still feel his frame is too small to compete in the NHL. Skill wise, there's no benefit to going to back to Jr.

Do you honestly think that going back there is going to help him "bulk up" the way you think he needs to? Because, IMO, I don't think it will. If he hasn't in the 3 years he's been there, why would he now?

I think he really would benefit from being here with the strength and conditioning coaches and playing against a higher level of competition. That's going to be how he builds up his frame and stamina to be a star player in the NHL.

Possibly, but if he's at all "close", or Reinhart makes the decision difficult (i.e. he's not looking lost, but he's not playing like a world beater either), then he'll probably lean towards keeping him here, for the very reason of giving the fanbase something to look forward to. It would be a PR disaster not to. The question will solely be: does Sam Reinhart make my team a better one by being on the roster?

I didn't jump to any conclusions.

I was responding to the fact that Murray won't keep Reinhart here for the sake of the media/fans contentment.

I already agreed with you on the fact that it's any number of reasons why he didn't participate today

My bad.. But I think Murray personally wants him here. Everything he's said leads me to that decision.

I would happen to agree with that as well. Murray and the coaching staff will tell him what to work on after this camp is over to ensure that happens.

Terry will buy a gym for him and a personnel trainer in BC. He will not benefit if he is in the press box nursing injuries . The NHL schedule is pretty grueling compared to Junior. If he is ready I want him here . If Tim & Ted determine that he is not . That will be fine with me as well.
