It does sound like Detroit might be victim to some inner turmoil this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see them not make the playoffs this year. As far as Ottawa being 3rd, there's no way they finish ahead of Montreal. Tampa Bay is primed to be very good, but that's been the case for a few years now. Teams are starting to figure out how to beat Boston.

Regardless of whether that's true, and it can certainly be argued.. he's still not an offensive dman to an NHL standard. I mean, to get that tag, I think you gotta be putting up at least 40+ points a season, right?

I do agree that offensive defenseman are always better in the offensive zone, so by that standard you're probably right. I just think he's tagged as a two way D.

I think I was most amused by the fact that they had Buffalo in 8th. While I don't think we'll be as bad as last year, I don't think they've improved enough to earn a playoff spot either.

I have a feeling The nhl will award TO mcdavid in the Lotto even if the don't tank....call it a nhl reclamation project

I agree, but his offensive game is still better than his defensive game. It's how he's built, and it's how his skillset is molded.

Problem is his rookie season went so well it set all our expectations sky high.....but slow starts and lapses have soured many of the fans.....I don't want to give up on him yet in think he still has tons of untapped potential...needs patients and better coaching .....however, that said if an unbelievable offer came down I don't think they can pass up

I agree to an extent.

I think the reason he doesn't play 25-27 minutes a night is because when he's on the ice, he's playing deep at both ends and having to sprint back into position.

Hopefully when this team is better he will capitalize on more secondary assists and won't have to do a lot

I'm not sure I'd want to quite call it "turmoil", but there are definately some issues there.


First off is Babcock. I definatley think his players believe in him, his HOF track record speaks for itself, and the organization has to find a way to get the deal done.

Zetterberg's back went out at the Olympics, while Datsyuk was often gimp. It's understandable to not make the playoffs with your best 2 players on the shelf for half the season, but they gave it a look.


Jimmy Howard was hurt early as well, and was very inconsistent. Get healthy & fix the goaltending, and the RedWings can reload, rather than rebuild. They have some really talented young kids, and HOF leadership.

I don't think the Sabres have a sniff this year and I'm ok with that.....but it would make my season if Detroit finally misses the Playoffs.....call it envy if you wan but I hate the Wings so much.
