Nobody knows what is going to happen. He may sign, he may walk. The only thing that is for certain is he is going to be paid $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. - Kinger34
Also, wouldnt you want to be the guy that breaks the leafs curse? Stamkos would be the guy who would help |

He favourited tweets that speculated he could come to center of the hockey after the 2015-2016 season. He since deleted them. - LeafsOneBillion
Uh, no he didn't. He liked one tweet linking to an article talking about Lebron James. |

I've routinely accidentally clicked the favorite button and seen tweets in my favorites that I know I didn't intentionally put there. Big whoop.

Okay.. You don't know Toronto.. He'll make a lot more as a Leaf. And I don't think it has much to do with money anyways. He'll get far more endorsements and business opportunities in Canada due to his fame. It'll be a personal choice for him and nothing more. If he's up to the challenge of pulling off the biggest feat in hockey then he'll come. If he likes the sun and quiet public life he'll choose Tampa. No on knows exactly what he's thinking. But money is last thing he's worried about. - Arctic_AARDVARK
If it makes you feel all warm inside , dreaming he will come home . Go for it . Reality wise . He does not seem like someone would like the pressure involved with being a Leaf. He seems like the type that likes to wear sandals year around and be able to go wherever he wants without being mobbed . You guys are a very critical fan base . Lose 2 games in a row and someone is going to his home and throwing flaming bags of poop at it.

He might play soft
better than Schenn who just plays S#it all the time
one of the best trades the leafs have made in recent memory
lets be honest the flyers got fleeced - Adam_The_Golf
the one plays d the other o, apples and oranges
l.schenn had to be reprogrammed by the flyers cause the leafs (frank)ed him up good
now he's on the road to recovery and a successful hockey career |

It's not that bad, 5 losses in a row sure
But like I said, you and I have no idea what he's thinking. Winning a cup in Toronto wouldn't be like winning a cup in TB or some other small market. |

no. He favorited lebron tweet that he was going home to play... so did thousands of other people, and other sports stars, HE didnt speculate anything, Toronto fans speculated everything else.
im not arguing that you guys wouldnt want him on your team, its obvious, but just because he favorited a tweet, means nothing, ive stated twice that its MY OPINION he would stay in tampa, you guys said "source?"
so i basically am saying, dont call me out for not having a source, then turn around and immediately say hes leaving tampa without a source, and no a tweet favorite is no source. |

Maybe Dion hasn't been moved because the Leafs aren't actually shopping him?
As has been mentioned before, what GM signs his captain to a contract like that and then promptly trades him before the next season starts? Do you think treating your players like that will entice others to come and play for your team?
I think the package is actually pretty fair. The Leafs aren't going to mortgage the farm for a guy who may walk their way in 2 years via UFA. - Kinger34
He's an overpaid #2 d-man. He's not as terrible as some think, but he doesn't have the defensive stability to be the #1.
There were all kinds of reports in the post season indicating that the Leafs were looking to move him - and I'm sure it stems from not having confidence in him as a #1 dman.
As a Leafs fan, I will say 100% that your proposed trade wouldn't be enough - I don't see Kadri as a #1 centre. He'll be a solid #2 and there's nothing wrong with that. Phaneuf is overpaid and Tampa already has some higher paid vet dmen as it is. Plus he's a lefty, and would play behind Hedman as the #3 dman if Tampa is looking to keep the lefty/righty matchup. Way too much to spend on a #3 dman when they're already over the cap.
Tampa doesn't need Dion at all. It's a bad trade from that perspective and I'm sure other teams could easily beat it. |

Because there are only 35 million people in Canada , The dollar is weaker . Conservative government has made innuendo of driving it even lower to increase foreign markets for Canadian goods. Happen to own a company that does 25% of our business in Canada . Follow economics in Canada very closely . Not every Canadian dreams of coming back and playing for the Leafs . If you can provide me with some sources that show that Stamkos is leaning that way . I probably would agree with you .

They wouldn't take Subban because of his pending free agent status.
The difference between Keith and Phaneuf = Stamkos? Doubt it, and Chicago doesn't have the money to pay Stammer.
To the contrary, I think a top D pairing of Hedman and Phaneuf would be pretty solid for the Lightning. - Kinger34

Yes. They all had/have national endorsements regardless of where they played.
Local endorsements are peanuts. You need the big multinational deals to make the big coin. |
