I'm fine with lecavier being a flyer next year and actually pretty excited to see if a healthy season and steady line mates helps him. The guy scored 20 last year so if he has a good season 25+ goals 50 points that contract doesn't look so bad next July.

I think the package is actually pretty fair. The Leafs aren't going to mortgage the farm for a guy who may walk their way in 2 years via UFA.

He'll get far more endorsements and business opportunities in Canada due to his fame. It'll be a personal choice for him and nothing more. If he's up to the challenge of pulling off the biggest feat in hockey then he'll come. If he likes the sun and quiet public life he'll choose Tampa. No on knows exactly what he's thinking. But money is last thing he's worried about.
