I'm in Edmonton (*waits for laughter to subside*) and I find it to be a very liveable city... low cost of living, lots of employment, and while the winter sucks the summer is beautiful. LOTS of greenspace, and great leagues for sports etc. out of work. My wife has an awesome job, and we got a good house in the recession for around 250k.. I see why players wouldn't want to live here from October through April however!

Vancouver is very beautiful, but East Hastings... jeez... I've never seen such a derelict place in this country!

Haven't been to Edmonton in several years. Wasn't too impressed when I was there but maybe it's changed.
(frank), if I were homeless I'd move to Vancouver too! Been spending lots of time there the last couple of years and really enjoy it.

I spend most of my time around the university/river valley area... lots of cool cafes and bars, plus great cycling and running trails.

Our house is way in the south, and now that we have the train extended I can be door to door from home to work in about 20 minutes which is awesome

Last time I was there we were involved with some reno's at the Muttart Conservatory. Worked long hours and didn't get the chance to do much exploring but it was November which didn't help.

River valley and south of the river is great. It will be nice when downtown gets more work but its coming along. The new arena and surrounding area is looking like its going to be a great area.

For sure. I'm hoping to be back in Ontario before long, but we've definitely had a good time here in Edmonton. The Arena should do a great job of helping the area just north of downtown!

My mother-in-law's family is from St. Albert and we head out generally once a year and always really enjoy it...Edmonton is really coming together with the ring road in place...that city-airport drive used to be hell...I think St. Albert was ranked pretty high in demographics for Canada as a whole.

Yikes.

Yeah, I'm used to it now but the wife is still not a fan of the winter. She's a fan of the job however, so puts up with it

What does that matter? We're talking about Toronto. You guys love to deflect any truth about "the centre of the universe." It's a big city but I wouldn't say it's particularly nice or anything. And the Leafs are a bad team. No reason I would want to play in toronto other than to be closer to that side show mayor. He is pretty funny.
- woopstash

Centre of the universe? No, can't see that anybody ever said that.

Basically the centre (and I don't mean geographically) of Canada though. No doubt Toronto runs the country.

Yup, the Henday highway helps a hell of a lot! I'm down in the south, just near the Ikea as you come up from the airport. It's a great area, and has good links to the rest of the city
