Well, technically pro sports is the entertainment business. What they've done is certainly entertaining.

Because Ontario's economy grew around the manufacturing industry and the Canadian manufacturing industry isn't what it used to be. Ontario's economy isn't thriving but it's not struggling.

Additionally, your comments on endorsement revenue are absurd. Advertisers do not pay based on talent (that is what teams pay for) they pay for attention. Playing Toronto Stamkos would receive far more attention (and by extension his endorsers would as well) in Toronto than any other market in the NHL.

If he were to bring a Stanley back to Toronto he would be elevated to another level. In terms of fame and prestige he'd be on par with Gretzky, Keon and Howe. Tell me how he gets to that level in the states. It just isn't possible in today's NHL. Hence, why he may consider coming home.

Gretzky got all those Canadian endorsement deals while with Los Angeles . Are you telling me Stamkos won't get them because he choose not to come back to the Leafs . Who was talking about Buffalo ? The contention is a superstar player for the Leafs will make more than one Playing for Tampa. That is just not the case anymore with how well the whole league gets covered . Plus the tax advantage being in Florida is huge. As one leaf fan said . it is only $250,000.00 more on 5 million . Stamkos will get 10 million on his next deal for sure . That is 1/2 million per year more in taxes playing for the Leafs . That is a lot of Mac's Milk commercials . And the national deals come no matter where the player is.

First off. Stamkos doesn't need to be in Toronto for endorsement deals, he is one of the best players in the world. He won't need help finding endorsement deals and that definitely wouldn't be his reason for leaving.

Second. Stamkos grew up idolizing Yzerman and now plays for him, and having Yzerman as a GM attracts a lot of other players. Tampa is looking like they will challenge for the top spot in the East this year. Biased or not, I think they have a great looking this team year, unlike Toronto.

Thirdly. JONATHAN DROUIN. Stamkos has one of the best playmakers in years coming to play with him this year, the hype is big and expectations are high but thats we're expecting. If they hit it off, I don't expect he'll go to Toronto to play with Kessel. Two don't seem like a match to me, they would need to be on different lines. So who would Stamkos rather play with IF Drouin pans out as expected.

I don't see him leaving, if he does I would be absolutely shocked. Yzerman and co. are giving him every single reason to stay, including being a contender.

Not that Stamkos is coming to the Leafs any time soon or likely ever for that matter? But if he did, his endorsements would dwarf anything that any team could ever afford to pay him under a salary cap. In his prime Tiger was earning about 50 mil a year, give or take on the PGA tour, while making over 200 mil a year in endorsements. Same deal with Stamkos if he was in TO. That's not even in dispute.

So you don't consider total compensation when you are offered a contract or negotiating compensation? Give me a (frank)ing break. $ and endorsement $ obviously comes int o play, that's what agents are for if the player is too stupid to consider it.

Additionally, Stamkos and no other star is coming to Toronto unless they have a shot at bringing home a Stanley. They need to make the playoffs the next couple years and show Stamkos that they are serious about winning.
