I don't see anything saying poor work ethic.

I'm guessing moody and inconsistent is just a nicer way of expressing it.

But if Doan is on the decline and has one year left...why would they trade for Vinny, who is on the decline, who has four years left?

They wouldn't

I want to be the guy, but I don't want to be that guy.

I understand and Doan is a guy I would love to swap Vinnie for. Sadly, I don't think Phoenix would make the deal nor would Vinnie want to go out west.
- BiggE

Yeah, he's going about it backwards. The order of logic should be:

1) Where would Vinny waive to go to?
2) Out of those teams, which ones want/need Vinny?
3) Out of those teams (if any), do they have any bad contracts?
4) Out of those contracts, are there any that the Flyers would be willing to absorb?

It's probably harder than threading a needle now, especially with the budget teams that previously needed help at C already addressing their needs in UFA.

Maybe. But wasn't hartnell inconssitant. Same can be said about a lot of players. Schenn needs to work on consistency. Richards was always moody it seemed. Doesn't mean these guys don't work hard.

He'll be here until he either retires or the Flyers eat salary.

It doesn't appear to be any more complex than that.

Yup, and that is why I think VL will still be here come October. Hopefully he has a good, healthy year, and perhaps gets moved next offseason.

I don't think so.

What does Vinny really want? Top line ice time, Power play, market? He might have to adjust teams depending on his needs are. I am ok with Vinny but I just prefer to move him sooner then later. Also I think there are still teams that could use his size and the guy still scored 20 in limit roles. A team like Montreal could use his size in the middle.

Also all it takes is one injury. Look what happened in Nashville. Maybe it takes longer but if a team loses a center they could come calling. I still feel he will be moved before camp.

The "lazy" description has followed Semin for his entire NHL career. It wasn't created by the media, but IIRC, it came straight from Washington's management and coaching staff.
Now perhaps he's not that guy anymore, I don't claim to know, but I do know that I'm just not interested in taking on a 30 year old winger with 4 years to go at a cap hit of 7 million.

I won't say never, but if his skating is still an issue and he posts the same kind of numbers this year...I don't think he will be easy to trade, even then.

If his skating is what it is and the injury didn't cause it...he will be here unless the Flyers buy him out, I feel

I'd like to see the line up balanced with the bjective of getting the most valuable players on the ice as much as possible.

Schenn Giroux Voracek
Read Couturier Simmonds
Umberger Vinny Akeson(spot up for grabs)
Bella Laughton Raffl (Besides Raffl, 2 spots up for grabs)
Rinaldo

Coburn-Streit
MacDonald-Schenn
Kimmo-Grossmann

- Baxter27

That Vinny line could be a nightmare defensively.

If he had 1-2 years, that's one thing. But his contract is just as long as VL's, comes at a higher cap hit, his production hasn't been as good since he left Washington, and he's characterized as lazy and disinterested (fair or not). So no, I'd pass.

Then the best option might be to make a deal with Chicago for Hayes. Give a 3rd and maybe another late pick for Hayes rights. You can birng in a wing with size and skill on ELC. Make picks conditional on if he signs.

If they can't sign him they lose him for a compensatory pick. Maybe offer something where they get a little more.

And what's your reasoning? Why isn't skill enough? Hvae't we tried wingers with a lcak of skill long enough. He was a solid player until the concussion issues. Just put up a nice season in the swiss league with 24 goals and 22 assist. We lack skilled wingers.
- J35Bacher

My reasoning is that he has done nothing but regress since his rookie year. He doesn't excite me.

That pick is a 2nd rounder in next year's draft, which is being hailed as an insanely deep draft. So why would they rather get a 3rd round pick and later pick?
