So am I the only one hoping Rinaldo is our 13 forward this year? I would mych rather have a fourth line that had either Laughton, Bellemore, Alderson, Raffl. If Vinny Satys here is what I would like:

Schenn - Giroux - Vorack
Read - Couturier - Raffl/Alderson
Umberger - Vinny - Simmonds
Bellemore - Laughton - Raffl/Alderson/Rinaldo

I also would mind seeing Laughton on Read and Couturier's line as a wing. That way some of the defe3nsive responsiblities aren't as great on him as they would be if he was a center.

Still the best thing would be to move Vinny and put Schenn back at center and sign a wing like Setagutchi or Mueller. Just makes the lineup look more balanced that way

At this point I'm starting to hope that he's someone else's forward next season.

I don't get your Setoguchi courting. Dude's production has fallen every year.

I think Rinaldo is on the bubble as it is. Berube was willing to get rid of Hartnell for stupid penalties and undisciplined play. SO I think Rinaldo is going to be under that same microscope.

All of the line combos I have been playing with don't even have Rinaldo in the building.

I posed this question on the Evander Kane thread yesterday. Would anyone trade Coburn, B.Schenn, VLC and a 2nd for Evander Kane?

Behind Cechmanek's generally excellent statistics, there were problems. Cechmanek's playoff performances tended to be either stellar or awful, with very little ground in between. He had bad performances in elimination games against Buffalo in 2001 and Ottawa in 2003. He showed up teammates in Game Five of the 2003 series against the Sens and was met at practice the next day by Jeremy Roenick and others deliberately firing pucks near his head.

They should've fired pucks at their own heads.

I agree with you. I think it is intriguing because you get the "stud" LW and you get rid of VLC's contract long term. However, it is impossible to replace Coburn at this point of the offseason. Good move for the future but bad move for this year.

Follow up: Does B. Schenn plus a 1st get it done? Would you do it?

If I were Winnipeg I would carry Kane on my back to Philadelphia for that deal.

If I were the Flyers I would laugh at it.

Vinny won't waive for Winnipeg.

Who is playing on the first pairing with Kimmo if you move Coburn?

I can't even agree that it would be a good move for the future. Tell me what Evander Kane is going to be in the future?

I think you can get him on 1 year for less then a million. He is still young enough maybe be a low risk/high reward type and if he plays with a center like Giroux he could probably get 20 goals.

Not just him I would still look into Meuller, Penner, Winnik, Galiardi, Colin Fraser. I think all guys that can be had cheap but can provide depth on the NHL roster and provide a role.

Coburn could not be replaced by one player from this roster right now. I just thought he would be the most sought after D-man we have.

What if it was the Schenns, VLC and a 2nd for Kane?

Of them, I'd take a low salary 1-year deal on Mueller or Galiardi.

Do you think he is currently and will be a better player than Schenn in the future. I think yes on both counts. Kane with Giroux is 35 goals per season guaranteed.

If your making that deal then I would want Bogossian too. If you move Coburn you would have to get back a young dman who can play major minutes.

Heck no. Kane is not some budding superstar player. He's a very good LW. I'd rather move B Schenn to Giroux's wing and probably get similar production.

I'd be ok with that. I think Galiardi can play on either Couturier's line or the 4th line. Meuller can play in your top 6.

I think the question is really how much better will he be? So much better that it's worth throwing in a bunch of players or draft picks along with Schenn? Based on Kane's inconsistency, nothing is a guarantee. How many goals would B Schenn score playing with Giroux?

As an aside, I'm leery of how many people seem to be penciling in Raffl as a top-6 winger. He's a very nice player, but he has trouble finishing, and you need to be able to finish if you're a top-6. Right now, he's a nice versataille bottom-6 player, to me. If you're counting on him as a top-6 player, that's a big, big risk.
