Girgensons was from the Gaustad trade along with Buffalos 2nd round pick.

So:

Out: Gaustad/2nd Pick (Patrick Sieloff)

In: Girgensons

Both had to do with trades to Calgary, but were otherwise unrelated.

- Themomentgood

I was thinking it was Calgary's 2nd back to them ..

W/e they took the wrong center

To the untrained eye maybe you think he didn't do much but every hockey annalists including Chad Cassidy said his play away from the puck was excellent and his forchecking was also really good. Sure he didn't stack on the points in the game but its just a prospect game after all.. The leading scorer was an undrafted try out..

This.

Grigs had an extra step that he didn't have last year, and seemed to have a bit of doggedness when it came to the forechecking part of his game.

I don't think he is ever going to "wow" us with high speed moves or fly through the neutral zone like Perreault. He's more long-reach, slow-motion slick, and he has got to use that howitzer more.

The biggest thing - and I've said this since we first saw him in blue & gold - is that he needs to realize that it's up to him if he's going to make it. I've noticed the strides that he's made and he seems to be doing and saying all the right things.

For all you Grigo naysayers, there are still players drafted ahead of him that haven't sniffed the NHL, and some others have only had a cup of coffee in the show.

Well, let's see how ol' Beezer did here.

Months have passed and I still have Miller pretty much pegged to SJ which hasn't changed. The idea behind it is Niemi is moved to a team like WPG.

Sabres room still has Reinhart as top guy on their list. FLA has 4 good offers for trade. VAN, EDM, TOR and WPG in no order. It's all about if they want Ekblad or not obviously.

Ennis deal I spoke of was 15mil/3 years. Ennis camp now wants a 4 year deal at 21.5 million.

Murray has no deal in place yet but had good talks with a few teams about moving into first round. SJ talks were the best. Obviously it depends on whose left but strong feeling is their first bet is Alex Tuch is he's there. If not still make the deal and pick Demko is all scouts agree that hip injuries are behind him.

There has also been thrown around the possibility of getting back into the first round and using that plus another player or pick to move up into top 10 to select Ehlers or Viratanen.

Also had talks with WPG around deal that sends Hodgson+ for Evander Kane

6/24/14

-Miller thing never happened, but the market is what it is.
-Ennis wanted over 5 million but Murray drew out the term to bring the hit to 4.6
-Think everyone had a feeling Reinhart was their guy, but good job.
-Murray never mentioned trying to move into the top 10. But who knows if was an idea thrown around internally.
-SJ did in fact trade their first round pick, but it seems like they would rather have a 1st and a third instead of 3 2nds. Not sure but I think at this point in time it was public knowledge that he was going to try and move up.
-Murray in fact had talks with WPG, but I highly doubt the conversation started with "so...wanna sell me the rights to JST for a conditional 7th?"

All around, not terrible. Not great..but not terrible.

Well here's something I'm not sure I've seen before:

"SABRES goalie Matt Hackett, who suffered a gruesome knee injury April 12, is out until December or January, Cassidy said." - Bill Hoppe

I meant the time frame. The quote was lifted directly from Hoppe, so the capitalization was his.

Oh, my bad. Yeah man, I mean, look at Kiko. Out the entire season before training camp even started. Knee injuries can be pretty damn serious.

It was a pretty bad injury. And depending on the extent, he may have had to rehab it in part before they could even do surgery. An ACL is a 6 month time frame to begin with. So he must have just had surgery last month to repair the ACL.

He won't count as a roster spot, you are correct. But they can't place him on LTIR until the beginning of training camp I believe. At that time, he'll come in, fail his physical, and be put on LTIR. Just like Pronger and Savard for Philly and Boston.

It's too early to say what they'll do with him once healthy, because that's a long way off and things could be completely different here.

Very good article man.

Keep up the good work.

There was a long period of time where most people would come ot the website and just go immediately to the comments section and not even read the article. That is now changing.

Hawks still need to move a player(s) to get under the cap, I would grab Oduya to round out our D IMO.

2nd in the NHL in blocked shots last year...

That could be huge for young goalies and young d-men to see a guy throw his body out there like that.

I know about his blocked shots, just not interested in him coming back here. I wasn't a fan when he was here.
