I think in the past when he played wing it was lw, but if he can learn rw that would be great. Especially if Armia pans out. Grigs, Armia, Baptiste on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd lines could be solid. Totally makes Stafford and Stewart expendable before the trade deadline.

The NHL is a tough nut to crack for anyone, regardless of talent, pedigree, or size...and attitude (while important) can only take you so far. I am not ready to give up on 25 even for 3-4 more years of development.

Grigorenko has an outstanding attitude this summer, and seemingly seems OK if he has to go to Rochester this season, "At least I know I'm going to be competing against men".

I went to the scrimmage. Like most I want Grigs to succeed. I just don't think he is ready. He seems behind the pace of the game. I can't comment on his attitude or work ethic. My guess is from the time he was 10 through 18 years old he was the most talented player on the ice. He did not have to pay attention to details, play a gritty style or compliment his line mates. The result has been that other peers have passed him by. He has much work to do to make it the league. I am hoping he breaks loose, improves and has a solid career. However, I do not believe he is ready yet.

What a god awful contract for a guy that has never topped 50 points in a single season.

I understand he is a better all around player now, but he is being paid that salary based on one series against the Penguins.

Ennis is being paid $4.6M from the ages of 25 to 30, which would be all of his prime years, except for maybe two on the back end.

When he had even somewhat reasonable players around him, he had 34 points in 48 games and 31 points in 47 games.

So if the Ennis contract is terrible, the Dubinsky one is not far behind, if it is behind at all.

It's a max deal though. If I absolutely had to put money on whether or not it will go the full term, I'd take the "not", and I probably wouldn't hesitate.

My point in responding to that silly comment was you cannot crush the Ennis deal when your own team signed Dubinsky to the contract he got.

I would rather pay a guy like Ennis the money he is due for the entirety of his prime years (25-30) then pay a guy from 28-35.

I saw that and it made me look him up. They traded him and Paul Byron to Calgary for Kotalik and Regehr and a 2nd round pick that became McCabe. They then let Kotalik walk and traded Regehr to LA for 2014 and 2015 2nd round picks. Those 2nd round picks along with McNabb and Parker got Fasching and Deslauriers.

So basically:

Out: Butler/Byron/McNabb/Parker
In: McCabe/Fasching/Deslauriers

Seems like a clear winner. I would rather have McCabe than any of the four that went out. We will see how Fasching and Deslauriers play out, but they both look solid.

To the untrained eye maybe you think he didn't do much but every hockey annalists including Chad Cassidy said his play away from the puck was excellent and his forchecking was also really good. Sure he didn't stack on the points in the game but its just a prospect game after all.. The leading scorer was an undrafted try out..
