Has Horvat asked for a trade yet?

I would do that trade - straight up for Eller. But it seems a lot of you lads on the board aren't overly keen on Lars (or at least not to the extent of viewing his value as greater than Horvat's - this is an argument which can only be truly settled by time). It's an interesting dynamic. As I've said, I'm a huge fan of Horvat and hope he can come in and make an impact from day One. Realistically, though, I just want him to continue to develop, work on his skills, skating, and defensive side of the game, so he is as ready as possible to make a contribution to the team, and keeping his confidence level high.

I'd really hate to see these guys brought in, though, unless they are 110% ready for these advanced responsibilities. It would be a huge disappointment if any of the prospects were brought in too early due to owner/fan/management pressure, and their development de-railed accordingly

Horvat and Eller seem like similar players . Horvat is a potential ,Eller is a proven, which a few posts ago is the route you are going.

I don't understand where some fans love Kane and hate LUcic. Their numbers are similar. LUcic was instrumental in winning a cup and takes his team to the playoffs every year. Kane has not. LUcic is tougher and probably the top reason that Boston get called the big bad Bruins along with Chara.He scores as much as Kane and plays the power forward as well as.

Edler is a 28 yr old 3/4 Dman ,Tinordi is 22 tougher bigger and also projected as a 3/4 Dman.

Edler has a huge advantage in points obviously but he makes so many costly turnovers. I think he has now plateaued and we have seen his best.

You can't use the I will take the proven Edler over Jarred and turn around to Eller/Horvat offer to say you want to keep Horvat because of potential .

Benning did well at the draft, in fact I think he did excellent.i really like the Bonino Dorsett Sbisa McCann trade. I like the Vey trade. There is still tons of work to get done to move the Twins Edler Burrows Higgings Hansen.In two years Horvat should just be getting started and will probably be like Hodgsons first year. I will also state I am not a huge Edler fan. I think he makes way too many mistakes . He had huge potential but fell short.

There has been tons of talk about trading Edler for the last 2 years. I think there is only about 5 teams he would accept a trade to and Montreal is one . His value has dropped and you are not going to get a Drouin Nyquist Mantha type prospect back anymore.

Flyer fans have come in here and laughed at the proposals of Schenn or Couturier for Edler.

Combine those two facts and you see how hard it is two move him, much like

Keith Weber and Suter have been playing lights out for years and they are just now arriving to those ages. Doughty Suban 24/25.

In most cases D do evolve later but we put Edler in the upper class of Dmen in the Canucks blog and he is no where near those others whom have been performing at high levels for years.

Yandle and Bogasian are similar to Edler and they are 24 /28 , so again I think we have seen the best of Edler during that Chicago series and I am not expecting him to rise into the next level of elite D

I know I frustrate posters on here. It is not trolling it is debating.

We finished 24 th last year . I don't think we have made enough changes to compete . It is my opinion.

Defense. Look at the top teams , they have a puck mover , they have a big accurate shot , they have a stay at home tough guy and a mix of reliable supporting cast.

We don't have the big shot , the puck mover ,the instigator ,the tough guy. We have 6 guys that play not to get caught out of position.

Visiting teams never worry about coming here and getting manhandled. This is a fun stop for most teams.

Yesterday when people were discussing players that could compliment the Sedins??????

Gretzky Kurri , Hull Oates , Crosby Kunitz, the list goes on but it wasn't the third guy that made them successful . Yesterday DCTs comments that it will need to be Burrows to make them successful is sad. 14 mil dollars spent in passing that can be rendered useless if this 32 year old has a bad year .Wow on so many levels.

This team has tons of problems and the sooner we make full scale changes the better. That is my opinion right or wrong.

Vantel I gotta admit that you almost single-handedly drive the debate around here in the dead zone summer months. Full credit for that my friend.

To sum up my view on trading Horvat, with the set-up we have down the middle right now I simply don't see any reason to trade for yet another 2C/3C. Even if that's all Horvat might end up being, we already know that's all Eller will be. If we're dangling Horvat, it needs to be in a package for a future 1C which is something we've been lacking for a long time. Short of that, might as well stand pat.
