The guy has had 5 NHL fights.....hardly an enforcer. His absolute upside is a top pairing defender if paired with an elite puck mover. He's most likely 2nd pairing. I'm not ready to trade away a certain top 4D and a possible 2C/3C for a 3C and a possible top 4D. Not to mention throwing in a utility player that gives his all every night.
That guy alone could fetch a very nice pick in next year's draft. - golfingsince
I think the Habs enforcer is primarily Prust (although he's a bit of a middle-weight, he still takes on all comers) along with Parros. The thing about Prust is, he's much more than just an enforcer, as he's got some decent offensive ability and can play in a 3rd line role as/if need be. He's also not going to hurt you defensively.
As far as Tinordi goes, I tend to agree that he doesn't seem to have much upside, other than maybe a number 3 or 4 defenseman. It'll be interesting to see how he develops - the kid is barely out of his teens playing a position which takes quite a number of years to fully get comfortable at. So I certainly wouldn't close the book on him quite yet.
For a team which is often labeled as a bunch of 'smurfs', there are quite a number of PIMs (Gallagher 73; Prust 121; Subban 81; Emelin 59 in 59 games; Parros 85 in 22; White 50 in 52; Eller 68). Pretty decent for a bunch of 'smurfs'. |

There is a possibility that Tinordi can develop into a top pairing shut down type of guy. However, he's now 22 years old and has yet to crack a roster that has had the likes of Weber, Diaz and Mike Weaver on it. Weber and Diaz were absolutely unnecessary with Subban and Markov providing offense.
I'd love to have the guy in our pipeline, but i'm not trading a guy who is easily a top 4D now and a prospect like Horvat ( big, 2 way game ) and throwing in Burrows for a 3C ( with possible 2C upside for a couple of years ) and Tinordi who may or may not become a shutdown D. If Tinordi doesn't develop to his full potential, you're looking at Bryan Allen. |

Vantel, quick question for you.
If you are building for the future then why trade Horvat for Eller?

How many AHL games has Horvat played yet you are suggesting he will be top 9? - VANTEL
Horvat might be okay if he learns how to skate. |

If someone in here has been suggesting he's a lost cause please check yoself.
Will he live up to expectations, I personally dont think so. I do believe he can be a full time pro player. Just may need to alter his game a little bit.
The kid has talent, we all know that. Personally if anybody is going to get anything out of this young man it will be WD. |

Totally want an answer Vantel....lol. I realize the offseason makes people a little stir crazy but I would rather watch this year as it is just to see the way management deals with it. We have a new coach that could turn some heads in the development area of this franchise. So why wouod we start trading for older players? Why not just let this team go to camp and figure it out then?
I wouldnt trade anyone else until the TDL 2015. Whats the point? |

Meh, I have a 2nd child.
I learned quite quickly the first time around that they are FAR more important than a hockey team.
I don't get pissed off anymore, just disappointed. |

I don't see him as the heir apparent to H Sedin as our 1C but if he can be our next Ryan Kesler that's not nothing.
The only way we should be involving Horvat in a trade scenario is if it's for a future 1C. Think Johanssen, Granlund, etc. |

100% Yes he did not have a great world Juniors and his last season wasnt the best to date. But he got frafted where he did for a reason. And that reason is potential. To me, Im not looking at him as if he's a reclamation project, I look at him as a kid with big potential who just needs the right guy to push him in the right direction. Is WD that guy? havent got a clue.
But his resume with young guys speaks levels. |

I'm not sure Horvat will even make the team this season but if he does, will be interesting to see what we've got there. |

If he doesn't, best not to pull a Leafer and label him a bust.

But if he gets a slight hankering for the nightlife Benning will probably trade him to Dallas anyway. |

I do somewhat agree that Bo could turn out to be a 3lc. Maybe he is/was so highly regarded because he was the highest we had picked in the draft in a long time and he had recently somewhat dominated the playoffs the year we drafted him. Also the fact we traded Schneider straight up for him.
It is also very conceivable still, that he becomes more.
He is the leader of our prospect group already. They all look up to Bo. You can see it in any of the prospect videos. He has the right attitude and puts in the work obviously. Not to mention he's a Canadian of good size.
So was Trevor

It's possible any pick could be a bust. I personally was pissed we didn't pick Nichushkin at the time with that pick but Bo was their guy. I'd be surprised if he became our 1C of the future but I could easily see him as a solid 2C. |
