The Sabres are off the rumor chart for E. Kane, so that means he's coming to Buffalo.

It's hard to be a great player when you have absolutely no support. He deserves a lot of the criticism he gets, but at the same time, he hasn't exactly been in a great situation either.

Based on your argument, Edmonton probably should have won the Cup this year. With the amount of players they have that should be great based on their draft position.

- HonkFortheGoose

I never called Myers great, either, so no, basing my argument in favor of Edmonton isn't really fair. Besides, they had some "great" play from some of those kids, despite their team being poop.

I'm just saying that if the player is so good, HIS play should reflect that, rather than flat out blaming the entire roster. Sure, his numbers will be off, he may be made to look bad in some situations, but those situations can be looked at and pointed out as "oh, yeah, he was left alone and had to try to make such-and-such play to cover"

Again that really wasn't the issue. We were in the war prior to Pearl Harbor. The US was selling both sides weapons. That's neither here or there though. He made a pact with Stalin and then double crossed him. Leave him alone and he takes out the UK and then can focus on going after us.

To bad Risk wasn't around back then....

I think great players all around the NHL disagree.

Its a good thing myers isn't great. The expectation for him to perform greatly, without support, should not be attached to him in anyway. His performance should be compared to his peers...any 2nd or 3rd line D-man.

In most cases I agree. But this organization was so messed up, especially the coaching, that even a great player would have struggled mightily.

If Myers starts the season off slow like he has in the past, that's not good. If he looks like the Myers from the end of last season, we could be in pretty good shape going forward.

If you're not lucky enough to get some or most of it to start the game, it makes it that much tougher to do.

just asking, but what if all those guys enjoy being ass raped? would that really be in 'their hell".

Wouldn't a modern day hell for Saddam be sitting in in a lounge chair forced to watch primetime television on CBS, listening to NPR and force to buy stuff off QVC?

I have no problem giving him more chances to make up for his crap in the past, so I've never been one wanting him gone. But for as much poop as Vanek gets around here, Myers consistency isn't the greatest either.

Myers problem is that he hit his ceiling immediately. He doesn't have a typical nhl growth chart. He is essentially settling down into his norm, instead of settling up into his norm.

Unfortunately that takes away all the promise and hope of him being an elite D-man.

- RynoBull

I don't believe he did in the least.

Problem is this whole team has been trending towards dysfunctional since 2010. Unfortunately young players get the rough end of that during key years of their development.

There are five territories there - ought to be the first place you put an army. My father, my brother and I spent lots of hours on rainy/snowy weekends battling over that part of the gameboard.

The only thing consistent about this entire organization the last 3+ years is that they're inconsistent. Very few fall outside of that.

It did though.

Just look at his numbers outside of the short season and tell me where the bad defensemen or even average defensemen is? He plays 22 minutes a night on average, and will score goals over an 82 game season. Is he "great"? No not right now, but he absolutely looked great for a good portion of last year

Depends on house rules though. Some people play where you have to put troops in places based on the cards you draw, not just place 1 troop per turn
