Some thoughts on NBA/NHL Lottery System/Format:

Cleveland Cav's - won the last 2 NBA Lotteries!! (Drafted 1st 3 out 4 years - drafted Erving 4yrs ago)

If you all don't think something is up with this format/protocol, than I'm missing something?

James signs this week? This was a plan all along!

I love this for all small market professional franchises, but worried about the control factor?

Brings me to McDavid/Echiel draft and the NHL changing things up.......WHY next year? Where are they going to sell the sport:
- Arizona
- Seattle??

But something just doesn't add up

*Hope you all know I'm being facetious Big word for me!

overrated Miller
underrated Hajt

- homiedclown

Miller was drafted 138th overall in the 5th round.
Kept some very bad hockey teams in games they had no business being in.
I understand the premise, but I don't understand how anyone can say a 5th round draft pick was over rated.

Hajt was always given his due.
I never recall him being under rated or under appreciated.

That said, those are your selections and I respect them.

You want to see an angry mob ? Check out Detroit's board . They want Ken Holland's head on a stick. Fact is Detroit is not the destination it once was . The building is not the greatest anymore and many do not relish living in Metropolitan Detroit . The Subarbs are nice . I have family in a few of them . All the fans think Mr Nill was the brains behind Holland and are panicking.

team is not winning, hence has a hard time to get players to come there IMO

Nill was under-rated and look at what he has done since moving to Dallas

a 5th rd pick that was touted the savior, shoved down our throat in commercials, and people on this site over the years said was as good as dom (there was more then a few in the hay day)

IMO when you get all that hype, all that money and go 7 years w/o winning a playoff series then you are overrated

as for hajt, he was so solid he never got much attention. I do not think he ever played in an all star game and doubt he ever finished in the top 20 for norris votes. he was a rock

Not just the not winning cups . Joe Louis arena is no longer a desired destination as a venue . It seems the shine is wearing off the Red Wings. No Doubt MR Nill knows his stuff . I find it hard to believe Mr Holland is as incompetent as all would leave you to believe in their board . Detroit is just not the desired Location it used to be for free agents . They are still doing a fine job developing talent on Grand Rapids.

Hajt was a beast , what I remember most about him was his positioning . He always seemed to be in the right position to take on opposing team forwards.

Normally, I would have guess the NYI...

Once one of the most storied dynasty's in the league, oh how the mighty have fallen.

But the NY metro market is still strong & as the NYI head to a new bldg. in Brooklyn, aligning McDavid with Tavares would spell big bucks in the Big Apple!

We're talking jerseys, were talking playoff games, were talking cross-town rivalries in the media capital of the world (where NHL headquarters just happens to be located as well)!!

The only problem with all of that is that we own the Isles 1st rd pick!

I don't understand why there is so much hate for ROR. He is a 22 year old kid who wants to get paid a bunch of money to stay long term with his organization. For 22 he is a complete player. Solid off. Solid Def. In a game to get to four goals in 60 minutes is a lot a player value to stop top line players is very important. Plus his offensive numbers are good. We have nobody like him in the organization. People make the drury comparison. They say it because they both work as hard in the off. zone as the def. zone.

The idea that someone is underrated/overrated based on their draft spot is absurd. After all, being overrated/underrated based on perception (or rather, people's perception of perception).

People also forget Briere's shortcomings. He was absolutely brutal in his own end and he was a turnover machine on the power play. He wasn't in any way a #1 center.

O"Reilly over values himself at this point. No one disputes he is a good player. Colorado is not willing to pay him more than their best player Duchene. They are afraid of the atmosphere that will create on the team . At This point I don't think O'Reilly gets the whole team thing as much he wants to hold the team hostage to fill his bank account.

If O'Riley scores 65+ points, for the next 7 years... I'm fine with giving him $7 mill.

We paid Vanek more than that and he wasn't a consistent 65 pt guy, so what's the big deal?

Just realize that such a payday may inevitably set the bar for Reinhart & McEichel.

Me to.
Plus ROR will play a lot better in the backend. Its time the sabres get more two way.
With Myers lack of play in the backend and not being one of Murrays picks maybe we could get something for him
