AHL, incubator for NHL, approves 7-minute OT for next season. 4-on-4 for three minutes, 3-on-3 for four minutes. Ejection for two fights.

No shootout? I like the shootout, I don't get why people hate it.

I'd rather see 3 on 3 for 5 minutes

no goal, then it's a tie

I would assume it would be quite rare for a tie in that scenario, but I hate ties. The worst.

im only in my 20s and i have to say its already getting old hearing people saying "im sorry youre a bills and sabres fan." Im not the one to debate over who's favorite sports team is better/ my dad can beat up your dad arguements so i simply answer with a thanks most of the time.

Like you said it will mean a lot more to us than possibly any other city when a championship comes our way. I predict flipped cars, burning buildings, and streaking. Most of us were born into it and its in our blood. We cant switch allegiances at this point.

- gerbe42

I'm 29, so I know enough about the 4 Super Bowls. I can remember going to games with my Dad at the Aud. I specifically remember the game against the Senators where (I'm probably wrong) Chara blasted a shot into the Sabres bench, a fight broke out, Chara and the Sens coach were ejected. Buffalo Sports are in our blood and it feels like lunacy to change it.

I am ok with a tie, but back in the day there was probably 15-20 ties a season for some teams

Don't worry, our day will come. What is todays reality and perception will be different in the future. Nothing is forever.

Years ago people said nothing will ever happen in Buffalo. You can't live downtown, you can't getting anything done. Now look, we have so much going up we can barely keep up with the changes.

I'm 30 almost 31. I remember wide right, Leon Lett, music city miracle, no goal, no goal 2, staff infections, etc.

I grew up at the Aud, I was there for Malarchuck, I was there for the 4 OT game against the Devils, I was there for the last game there. I was lucky enough to get one of the orange seats.

I went to the first game ever at Pilot Field I have the ticket somewhere but I don't remember much of the game. I've seen a no-hitter thrown there. I remember Tom Prince clearing the tall fence in left and putting it on to the 190 ramp.

I remember the Wings, the Blizzards, and the Destroyers. I remember the first championship the Bandits won.

People ask how could I root for Buffalo sports, I tell them it's like rooting for yourself in life. No matter how many heart breaks you have you are still happy for them to be apart of your life.

Buffalo is a sports town. Their sports teams are apart of our lives. Sure things are better when they are winning but if life was easy where would be all the fun be?

There are many people on here who mock "the tradition" and that's fine if that's what they feel but there is one and while it might not be a "winning tradition" there is still a proud tradition.

Buffalo is home, will always be home. Your hometown team is always apart of home, and home is a big part of your life at least IMO.

Absolutely. It's hard to take myself away from Buffalo. I have spent a lot of time away, but always love coming home. There is just something about it; the people, the food, the passion. It all means so much and has changed me for the better. The teams seem to be going in the right direction, which is just an added bonus.

The whole system sucks.
Should be 3 points for regulation win
Two points for overtime win
one point for ot loss.
Right now there are more points available to take it to overtime then win the game in regulation.
More teams would go to war to win in regulation if they changed it

I am still in the process of relocating to Orlando. It's just not Buffalo. People ask me to explain that and it's difficult to put it into words but I think you know what I mean.

But were you there when the Buffalo Stampede when the championship at home on ESPN2????

Its funny though when people question our fanhood because the teams aren't winning. This isn't music where we all jump on the latest thing. Plus I realized last year, after I survived the last 7 years of Bills and Sabres, I cant take it. Why quit now?

Can we talk about how the Devils made a huge mistake in the length of the Schneider contract? I mean talk about betting big on someone who hasn't had the net full time
- Stripes77

I hope they crash and burn!!
I lived in NJ for about 7 years, and can't stand the Devils!!
I hope they keep giving unproven players contracts like this one!
It's actually funny that on the Devils blog, the Devils fans are already praising lou!

He's one of those guys that strikes me as someone that won't be happy unless he's in the spotlight in the bigger markets with a quick shot at the Cup. Considering how ravenous they are in Winnepeg for the Jets, Kane could live like a king. Just the fact that he's turning his back on such a huge hockey market speaks volumes I think.
- Poopspawn

meh, I'm not so sure about that . They might fill their arena now (they were at 100% attendance this year), but they only have a 15,000 seat place. they are 25th over all in total attendance. They lost their franchise for 15 years to Arizona.
On the flip side, Sabres get 18,000 people to come to each game. 11th in attendance on the worst team the Sabres have ever put on the ice.
