Nothing baffles me more than the Leafs PK. I can't figure out how they went from the worst for years (Wilson) to one of the best under Carlyle for 2 half-seasons ..then back to poop last year. I want to hear RC explain that one in detail. - The Law
In the shortened season, we had more defense-first d-men, McClemment wasn't being overused, and we had Komagod(Godarov?).

scoring is the least of the least of the leafs issues
the very very least of them
14th in the league for offensive output last year
its the goals against and break outs that need some serious fixing. - Dozzer
I am not sure this is true. They still have only one line that scores consistently and if they ever adopt the much-needed team defense strategy I wonder if they will struggle to score.
I think they didn't have problem scoring because nobody paid much attention to defense.

He's confused and mind Boggled.
What I think:
Mcclemment overused last year at evens and wasn't as effective on the PK.
More Franson
Started to get too passive. Were effective when pressuring. Standing up at the blueline, being quick in the zone. when they started to drop off they were giving up the line too easy and playing a passive box allowing teams to move more freely. |

the other lines would score more if they could turn the puck over in their own end and have successful breakouts
when the leafs do get on offense they do well.. its their transition game and D that sucks balls. |

Weren't you suggesting the Leafs get him instead of Evander Kane?
Also, Chris Stewart is a terrible hockey player, no matter what. - Pecafan Fan
Christ Stewart is our saviour.
If we didn't already throw away Mi Amigo, we would have the pieces to trade for him. Sadly though, he is out of our reach now.

Well being middle of the pack isn't that great.
Also, their secondary scoring isn't consistent.
But yes, defense and getting the puck out should be their top priority |

Well I wish we signed Heatley for 1 million dollars.....low risk, high reward.....instead we go with guys like Kontiola....low risk, low reward. - ThePresident

He had a couple of seasons where he looked like he might be a dominant powerforward, put up decent numbers in the shortened season, and then just sucked last year.
I'd take a flyer on him.
Current options for the 2nd line right wing spot are a prospect(Leivo), Clarkson, or depth guys like Komarov and Frattin.... or maybe converting one of the centers(Holland) to wing.
at 4M for 1 more season, it's not a huge risk, cap-wise... and could help out the 2nd line. |

Not sure ...hard to imagine it's just personnel. There's a website out there that show's shots on net and goals (where they were scored from) and I remember looking at it and determining that the Leafs were allowing goals from the point at a much higher rate. The shot totals were pretty similar but teams were scoring at a higher rate from far out. Maybe they were doing a pooptier job at shot blocking and clearing the front of the net for the goalies to see the shot. That was 5 v. 5 and special teams. |

He was well surrounded with the Blues, which allowed him to pick up points.
He was a throw-in in the Halak/Miller trade. He's really nothing special. |

Because we had one of the league's top scoring lines, that could blow out games.
But against tougher defensive teams, that line was all they had to focus on... and while they could still get a goal or two to save the embarrassment of a shut-out, the lack of secondary scoring cost the Leafs a lot of games this season. |

Heatley gets one million with the ducks, damn that team is looking stacked.
To bad the leafs didn't look at him as a cheap option - Fakepartofme
Yeah put an old 28 pt player with a bad attitude on our team to take away a young players spot. Perfect. |
