Crazy how much changes in 2 years, eh?
Couple of seasons ago, Lupul was the all-star top line LW and Reimer the young starting goalie with respectable numbers.
We go out and get some better pieces than them and they all of a sudden become worthless. Not that their play declined all that much, but they just fell down the depth chart, rendering them garbage |

We dont have the pieces to get him.
Unless we are moving, kadri or JVR
The peg wont take our crap: Reimer, Franson or B/C prospects. |

Lupul still would be if he could stay healthy |

Well, to be fair, Lupul's numbers and play this year weren't what they were 2 years ago, and Reimer shat the bed when the team needed him the most.

they would need to move Lupul if they got Kane. |

not sure why the leafs would spend assets to bolster a position at which they're already deep
would seem smarter to take those assets and go after an RoR type of player, or a top pairing d-man to play with phaneuf.
kane is a good player, but doesn't seem to be what toronto needs. |

the leafs could always flip him for RoR. Will the Avs be interested. |

With everyone knowing he wants out of Winnipeg, his bad attitude and his stats last year which aren't very good.(not his fault) his trade value is at an all time low. The jets will have a hard time accepting an underwhelming offer which is all they will get. |

The way I see it, those guys would be more expensive to acquire. And aquiring Kane for 2nd line duty does improve an area of need for the Leafs: Scoring depth.
I think Kane could be had for less than he's worth, and there's no team that couldn't use a young powerforward. |
