On avg

Kulemin will get you 76.89 gp and 35.61 pts

Grabovski will get you 71.86 gp and 42.61 pts

Conacher will get you 79.48 gp and 34.69 pts

All based on their avg games played per season and ppg. If a player played part of a season in the minors, I didn't count that as man games lost unless he missed games while with the big club.

That's what just under 10 mil got them.

I get what u r saying but I hate these. It's a very flawed algorithm.

Halak has never started more than 57 games in a season and always has some type of nagging injury/s he's dealing with. Can Johnson put up similar Boston numbers on the Island? That is the question. Conacher is on his 4th team in a 2 yr period. Kulemin and Grabovski are meh.

Are they in a better position? yeah maybe.

Can they make the playoff's? Sure but no higher than 7/8 IMO. They look more like a 9/10 honestly.

- dadeadhead

The point I'm trying to make is Islanders will not be a bottom feeder. Many people believe we have two top 10 picks locked in bit that just isn't the case.

Bright future for the Sabres and their fans. As an Islander fan in my 40s its easy to point out the terrible mismanagement of my team through the last 20 years. But one of the starting points was choosing Milbury over Regier and letting him fire Darcy. Would have been interesting to see what a real GM could have done with the awful ownership issues we have gone through.

Nothing is ever a lock in the NHL.

Colorado went from 1st pick to playoffs
Tampa from 3rd pick to playoffs

not always

gave up a second for boyes, when we had no business being buyers

gave up a second and patches for torres

gave up on mac and paille to quickly

gave up 2 seconds for an over the hill rivet

jan hejda for a 7th

the rights to peca for connolly and pyatt

- homiedclown

What did that 2nd become?

Torres was an acquisition that Darcy planned to resign but never happened. Torres is a pretty good pest. What did that 2nd become?

Where would we have put MacArthur? IMO the guys not even that good.

Paille should've been kept.

Rivet was a prison screw job. Don't know what Darcy was thinking there.

Hejda was a bad trade. But wasn't he a prospect when he was dealt? He was a bit or miss from what I remember so I don't blame Regier for that.

How could the sabres have the top ranked minor league system and prospects? Maybe at defense but no way at forward, The Amerks have zero scoring forwards. Armia can't score yet but I do feel he will improve, guys like Luke Adam have zero chance to make the NHL and the rest of the Amerks are all vets with no shot at NHL or they are 5'1". Forwards the sabres are majority lacking in prospects. People will talk about some guy they drafted next year and blah blah the guy looks like a future captain playing for his college team etc...In the real world the sabres are lacking in scoring forwards, even darcy said that walking out the door, he said the defense looks good for the future but at forward they need work. It's not like Buffalo has a guy burning up the AHL in scoring like Tampa did with the AHLs leading goal scorer in 2012 or the Red Wings with last year with Gustav Nyqvist. Larrsons isn't any type of big time scorer, we shall see if any of the Amerks guys actually score 20 goals next year, Girgensons couldn't even get 10 goals in the AHL.

Exactly. Grabovski and Kulemin signings give us a legit 2nd line allowing Fran's to center a real 3rd line. We needed contracts to get to the floor and NHL players to sign here so we over paid, but not Derek Engyland (sp?) overpayment. Those are still very manageable contracts.

Halak wont need to play more than 55 games unless he gets hot and Johnson should be more than serviceable in the backup/platoon position.

Defense still needs at least 1 preferably 2 veteran top 4 Dmen. Tough to come by, but something else the Grabo/Kulemin signings give us, the opportunity to trade a prospect and a nhler or 2 for a D man.

- jaumiller

They knew they were toast the moment Neymar got injured and Silva got the 2nd yellow card.

To put it in hockey terms for you, they went into this game the same way a pens fan would go into a playoff game vs the kings sans Crosby and Malkin. Disappointed, but not un expected.

Which is my point.......The NHL is unpredictable.

Colorado had serious questions in goal, yet their goalie was a Vezina nominee

Tampa went from missing the playoffs with Stamkos, to making them without him for the majority of the season

Here is the thing. It might be a playoff team but it's far from a power house. The isles could make the playoffs or be a total miss. Either way nobody in the east is really playing this next season for anything.

the really bad moves by reiger was not signing drury and briere and trading a 2nd for boyes when we were a fringe playoff team.

What are you talking about? Darcy always acquired heart and soul types. Lydman, Gilmour, McCormick, Ott, Drury, Hecht etc. if anything we had to many of those types over the years. Regier's mistakes came from horrible ownership. He assembled the president winning sabres and Stanley Cup favourites from scratch.
- Jammerz04

Yup, once in 17 years, when coincidently the league changed the rules to benefit the Sabres roster. Wasn't complaining back then as it was GREAT FUN. But then the ownership in Philly and Boston lead a revolt and we are now back to the clutch/hold/interfere league....which they were not prepared for.
I agree Darcy had his ups and downs with player acquisition and that 2005 2006 team was awesome. Once though, in 17 years. Now, the Sabres seem hell bent for leather in acquiring character and high compete players...to which I am extremely happy about. That is why I keep saying this is fun to watch the team being built through the rebuild...reminds me of 1971.. And those next seasons were awesome to watch!

Agreed with the fact Drury and Briere were not signed, but we know now that wasn't Darcy's choice...that was mister bright star Larry F'g Quinn's directive to balance costs and revenues. That A-hole cost the city of Buffalo a chance at sniffing a championship.
Then Darch had to choose one, and he lost big timebuy playing it badly...that part is squarely on him..Drury F'd him bad.

its a bad sign when your team signs corey conacher or tj brennan, let alone both of them. that means that someone in management feels that they might make their team.
