They should just let Subban play. Forget about putting the "C" on him. Give him an "A" and just let him play. Eller? 2.5max! |

Boyle got $2M per year from Tampa. Eller expects more? - hscesq
Does he have much of a case to get more? Right now he's a young third line centre at best. What do those usually sign at? |

Eric Engels: Arbitration for Subban and Eller puts Deadline on Negotiations - EricEngels
I think the outcome of it will tell a lot about what's important for Subban. Money, or winning.
I know with the cap likely to go up each year, it's not really a problem. Nobody has a crystal ball though, and you never know how things will really turn out. One player hogging a large part of a team's salary creates a problem at staying competitive all around. |

Shouldn't money be important to him? |

Yes, and he should get every penny he is able to get. That number is the hard part to figure out.... |

I hear what you're saying, but they aren't comparables. For one, Boyle's a UFA. Second, their skillsets aren't compatible at all.
Eller is likely to have to bite it on a one-year deal, two years max. He's probably looking at $2.25M per, 2.75 max. Arbitration wouldn't be friendly to him in terms of what he wants with Montreal. He wants a bigger role, and he knows Plekanec is expendable if he gets it. It could go to arbitration, but I don't think it will. |

11-11,5M$ should do it for the two.
Subban should get 8 years.
The only ?? is how many years for Eller. My guess is 2 years again or a more longer contrat of 4 or 5 years. |

So you are saying a longer contract is out of the question for Eller??
Isn't it playing with fire giving him a 2 years deal?? Wouldn't he hit free agency after that contract?? |

Subban wants a 5 year deal. Salary cap will be a lot higher by then. |

Eller has a skill set? I don't know that they aren't comparable insofar as the role that they are expected to play. Until Eller is consistent - if he ever is - he is a defensive center and chips in a bit of offense, just like Boyle.
The UFA vs. RFA is a valid point. |

In 5 years the nhlpa/nhl contract will be over and the salary cap will take a big cut. I don't think its Wise for Subban to do this. |
