Does anyone really know, for certain, what his issues are? Sounds like he's just a kid doing all the stuff that we all did in college, except he's got more cash to make it crazier. He'll probably grow out of being a party boy.

Great article. I think getting rid of Joe would be a mistake. It's hard to find players like him and even harder to replace them. But if that's Wilson's intent, then I'm O.K. with that.

Dallas is in the central division

sorry meant ANA. but western conference is no joke as a whole. getting through the conference in the playoffs without strength down the middle is a losing proposition.

Go watch the last 3 games the Sharks played against the kings and you will see reasons why he should get the boot. After going down by one goal he was defeated. It showed in his face and the fact he was not watching play while on the bench. He just stared across the ice with this look of defeat on his face. He did it in all 3 games. A WINNNER and the type of player we need as a captain will get fired up and lead, not sit there and wallow in defeat before the game is over.
- Ryman

I don't think people actually watched the games. Joe Thornton was SULKING on the bench. After seeing that, I want him gone from the sharks. I want to see a playoff leader.

One is 21 and the other is 35 so how can make a comparison?

The 35 year old hasn't really won anything with little upside left while the
other one is 21 and has an upside.

I'm sure if the Blackhawks offered Kane for Datsyuk straight up they would do it
in a heartbeat but not all the fans would like the trade.

No argument there. Personally I would hate that.... Until the day datsyuk retires.

It made me want to vomit when I saw that. Games not even half done and down by a single goal and he was QQ

I'd miss his regular season production but he doesn't have the heart of a winner.

Datsyuk is a one of a kind player but if you can get a 25 year old who was one of the main contributors of winning 2 cups you would have to make that trade.

Meh, would it be fun to have a player like Seguin? Absolutely. Do the stats look pretty? Absolutely. The B's were in tight with the cap and made a decision to move on. Reilly Smith is only gonna get better playing with Bergy. That kid shows shades of Hossa in his game, just needs to get bigger. Loui could probably still put up 65+ pts on the top line. Fraser looks like he could be left handed Michael Ryder. Jury's out on Morrow, but he had a decent year when healthy. They definitely didn't get quite enough value, but it wasn't a terrible trade, definitely not a "catastrophe". And whoever said the B's blew the Kessel trade, LOLOLOLOL!! If you seriously would take Phil Kessel over Tyler Seguin, Dougie Hamilton and Jared Knight, you need to reconsider being a hockey fan, cus u obviously don't know your stuff.

Do you know of a man named Ken Holland? I could be off, tho I don't think so-- but I don't see Holland making that move UNLESS Dats wants out (which I don't see happening for another NHL team).

#1- Dats is Dats (i openly admit being bias, for me- pure enjoyment watching him play like no other player)---BUT

Hollands record is loyalty, loyalty, and too much loyalty to aging players. There is a long list of examples that any Wing fan can give you. Datsyuk will follow in Yzermans and Lidstroms footsteps.

I am not saying it would be the "smart" thing to do- FTR. Just saying no way Holland does it unless its Dats asking

I didnt read through all the remarks. Pretty solid read. But for the record. Carter, Toffoli and Pearson was the 2nd line for LA. Stoll, Williams and King for alot of the time was the 3rd line.

Datsyuk is the most exciting player to watch. Hands down. That is also my opinion. Now, there is a loyalty factor with aging players. These guys turn into legends for an organization. You dont move Dats as you stated. Unless he wants out. Dats should fallow in the Yzerman and Lindstrom footsteps. Not the over aging loyalty player section.

Exactly.

The guy is good, very good, but he is not a winner. He doesn't have that extra gear champions have, the thing that makes guys like Toews and Kane and Carter excel when it matters the most.

I would trade him now if he will accept the deal before his value goes down too far as he ages.

Exactly. I meant following Yzerman and Lidstroms foot steps ie lifetime Red Wing and my bet, the next jersey to be retired.

strip the C off him and remember who the main man is that gets the sharks to the post season every year. I dont know who to give the C to but after this past post season it should nt be Joe. I was thinking SJ should have made a play for a big name and maybe lose a couple mid level guys to make it happen. Kesler or Spezza or ?........someone to stir it up. With what San Jose did this off season I feel like its going to be more of the same going forward only with older leaders. Good for us Kings fans but sucks for my nor cal family.

Sharks can learn a lot more from Lombardi. Oh wait they fired him.

Have fun watching the banner being raised when LA plays the chokes of the league.

Trading Seguin was a mistake but to compare it to Thornton is beyond ridiculous. Seguin is at the start of his career and Thornton is at the end of his. Joe is still a top player yes but it is time to move on and the return for him would still be huge. Couture and Pavelski are ready to be the one two punch.
