risto is going to be a stud

pysyk is going to be a fixture on the second group

my guess is big Z and mccabe will be nhl d men, only guestion is top 4 or bottom3

- homiedclown

I agree on Risto, he's Brent Seabrook lite and will be a good 1-2. Pysyk is a perfect 3-4.

Question marks are Zads and McCabe. If they pan out, Myers (or any one of them) becomes expendable, but I wouldn't pull the trigger until you know for sure

Poor Myers, trade the guy so he can get on with his life. The trade rumours have been steady for almost a year now. Every team would love to have this guy so I really don't know why you guys are trying to destroy him.

... Myers is Buffalo’s top defenseman and the asking price is going to start with one of Gustav Nyquist, Tomas Tatar or Tomas Jurco. Buffalo might well ask for Anthony Mantha, but the Wings aren’t relinquishing him. One player alone wouldn’t do it, though — there would likely be a high draft pick involved, too, maybe even a second player, someone in his mid-20s.

Detroit Free Press is suggesting Myers for Nyquist..?

!!!CHA-CHING!!!

- SuperCat

Call me crazy but with the exception of Nyquist ++ I'm not interested really. You have to worry about undersized Europeans playing and doing well in Detroit's system and how they end up doing outside of that system.. Cough Cough.. Ville Leino...

Nyquist while he does look promising still hasn't proven much.. I know all three are young but I'd want someone a little more proven and Detroit's system scares me a bit.

It's the Buffalo motto, build him up to knock him down.

The guy for the most part has been a young player victimized by a dysfunctional organization for a while. Yes he came in out of shape in the lockout year but like Murray has said, he's gotten no support here

Nyquist is a good young player, but he's got a shooting % that will not be maintained, and was a non factor in the playoffs

I still wouldn't move Myers unless it's Mantha++

- sbroads24

I am a Nyquist fan. I remember telling a buddy of mine 2 playoffs ago that this kid looked special. He only scored 2 goals, but was around the play seemingly every time he was on the ice.

That being said, I would still want more than a one for one deal.

However, the guy knows how to score goals, and has shown it for 3 professional hockey seasons in a row:

22 in 56 games and 23 in 58, all in Grand Rapids. And of course the 28 in 57 in Detroit and 7 in 15 in Grand Rapids this season (35 in 72 games, for 69 points).

One season of ridiculous shooting %, maybe. But he looks consistent and he looks totally driven.

But again, no way I deal Myers for Nyquist, straight up.

Now if the Sharks wanted to offer up Couture....

I still can't believe Mantha actually fell to them in the draft

Anyone hear anything about Ott at all?
I'm surprised he hadn't signed yet

mantha looks like a legit first line winger for the next ten years

he is who I would target

- homiedclown

I dunno....Myers' confidence came back exponentially under a partial season with Nolan, I'd like to see what a full season brings.....a defenseman with his size, and skating ability(for the size) comes around only once in a generation.

I'd say our future defense looks like this:

McCabe-Ristolainen
Zadorov-Myers
Austin-Pysyk
