It's insane when you think there's at least 10 other Defenceman out there that are better than he is, IMO. He's a great player, but 9 Mil per? Wow. - Gretz2Kurri
Dont be silly.
Hes one of the most electric and game changing players in the nhl. I hate mtl, but watching the boston series was painful as subban was so dangerous everytime he touched the puck. And was unstoppable on the pp.
He has a few warts defensively. But theyre getting better.
At least ten better?? Im sure there are more than ten better defensively, but the total package and that much of a difference maker? U could count those on one hand.

i understand why Ek spins this utter horsepoop, but i don't think he's stupid enough to believe it. some of you posters though--wow. stupid isn't a strong enough word. try researching and learning a bit about a player and situation before just regurgitating what you read on hockey blogs. |

Let's just all agree subban and phaneuf are both poop but subban is slightly better - Bigern4MVP
Let's all agree you're full of it...poop that is... |

Are you insinuating that PK isn't worth the $/term because of his "1 season with at least 40 pts"? I would suggest that you don't watch PK play much as he will be worth everything he gets. If Phanuef is worth 7 million (to the leafs and oilers) then Subban would be worth 11 million (to the leafs and oilers). - SmielmaN
Duncan Keith is locked up long term @ 5.5 ... PK will be the highest paid D-man in the league, yet he couldn't even dress for Team Canada...what does that tell you? |
|
|
|
Poor fenuaf, I guess his ears will be ringing durring many of the other d-man contract negotiations for the next few years.
seriously though, if we're using deon him as a measuring stick, 11 is a little low - brooaar
Leafs/Bruins fans will be glad to see PK get 11 million. Should leave no money to sign Gallagher,Galchenyuk,Tinordi and Beaulieu after the season! |

Absolutely no truth to @Eklund latest article on Subban. PK has no problem playing under Therrien. Players that did, are already gone. #Habs - Fruitcakenipple
Hes been trying to sell it for years.

That tells you that Keith signed a long term deal long before he hit his highest level of play. |

For (frank) sake Ek, leave Therrien alone.
P.K. filling for arbitration is nothing more than another way to put pressure on the Habs for that huge contract.
He'll be signed and play for the Habs for a looooong time. |

and the fact that the salary cap has gone up by a lot... and that the cba has changed so you can't have career contracts that lower the cap hit.

it says that subban was able to make one of the best squads ever assembled.
but didn't dress cause the guys that were gonna play the same type of role like keith are a little better overall at this stage in their respective careers (30 and 25), and more importantly, more experienced.
subban is gonna be one of Canada's main weapons for many years |

So what does it say about Phanuf's contract considering he was never in serious consideration to even make the team?
Basing a player's value based on their role in a two week tournament is beyond ridiculous. By that logic Hamhuis, Vlasic, and Bouwmeester should all command more on the open market. |

Canadas main 7th dman - Bigern4MVP
this year.
are you saying that hamhuis and vlasic are better?
they play a different game. subban wasn't gonna be put in place of them.
there were only a couple guys that subban was actually competing with.
not much of a diss to say one is behind Duncan keith is it?
tell me you understand this.
I love how people attempt to frame their points to drive it home. |
