I don't kow where you guys are that the amounts of excess taxes you pay are so little.
- dt99999

Our family business pays plenty of taxes - lots of our materials are landed (primarily because Canada doesn't do a good job at holding on to raw materials and have them exported to be refined so we can buy them back at a huge premium).

Nothing we can do about it either.

I feel like you're this close to declaring yourself a sovereign citizen, and subsequently dying in a shootout with police after telling them they have no authority to arrest you for tax evasion.

Max out your RRSP contribution in January for the current tax year (don't wait until the following year, like most of the sheeple)

Ask CRA for a T1213 Request to Reduce Tax Deductions at Source, to submit to your employer ( http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/...bg/tf/t1213/t1213-15e.pdf )

Your employer will then reduce the amount of taxes removed from your paycheck, in proportion to the amount of your Max RRSP contribution.

So, if your Max contribution is approximately 4k, by the time you receive the T1213 Request to Reduce Tax Deductions at Source, to submit to your employer, there will probably be about 40 weeks left in the current tax year, so if you're paid on a weekly basis, you will see an increase of about $100 in your take home pay, for the rest of the year.

It's simple.

No state income tax here and I always receive at least $3000 back.
It's a nice little "savings" for a few music festivals.

My "savings" earn interest, or yield dividends.

Not up to speed with US tax regulations, but would think that it someone contributes to an IRA, to reduce their taxable income (come tax filing time) there probably would something similar to what I've been doing for decades, and having the use of "all" of my money to generate more returns than if I'd done what most sheeple do, and let the government have use of my money, and return it to me, interest free, a year later.

When people say things like "It's a nice little "savings" for a few music festivals. " When they're resigned to just let the government over tax them, and wait for their money to be returned, interest free, a year later ............. I really hear one of these

I can't be bothered to fill out the appropriate form, to give to my employer, and get my money today.

Math?? I have to do some math! fuggetaboutit!

I'm not disciplined enough to bank my own money, earn some interest on it, it's easier to let the government have it for a year, and let them keep the earned interest I could have had.

$4K a year, plus lost (compounded) interest, for 30 years doesn't add up to enough to be bothered with.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
$4000 per year (without compounded interest) for 30 years = $12000.00

$4000 per year ( @ 3% compounded interest) for 30 years = $191,589.20

the Difference being $179589.20 ( in my pocket )
