Phaneuf is overpaid but Ottawa sent junk to Toronto so it's like the Leafs/Flames trade all over again. Nobody wins, nobody loses.

Sens have a lot of term and money committed to Ryan and Phaneuf. Would make me nervous

I truly hope there's another deal in the works, as I agree Phaneufs' contract is not something Ottawa needs, BUT they sent two bad contracts to toronto, two contracts that were NOT in the lineup regularly.

ya it's tough enough icing a solid team with just one overpaid guy let alone two. michalek and cowen are both a waste of cap though so at least phaneuf can chew up 20 minutes a game. i get why both teams made the trade. toronto is thinking long term and ottawa wanted someone that can actually play hockey a bit right now.

It makes the Sens better now, but the long term risk is pretty big. For the Leafs, I think it's a slam dunk. Clear of that money by 2017-18, which is probably when they want to start their upswing.

They'll now have the cap space, going forward, to sign Both Stamkos & Tavares when they become UFAs.

Canes will have to spend at least $11 million to reach the cap floor next year.

They'll make an offer.

Only if he takes less money.

He's alright as a 2nd line LW or whatever, but that's it.

If he's back it's because he wants to be back, not because Francis thinks the Canes need him.

He's not worth what Joe Thornton is making.

I wouldn't offer him more than $5.5 Million.

His brother is outproducing him.
