In how many different projects? How much oil would be piped through those, compared to Keystone?

...3.4 million barrels per day in August...

Seems like a lot.

But that's not the comparison, that's just how much Canadian oil is in US pipelines.

They're comparing numbers out of context. They're saying that the equivalent of 10 keystones has been built in 5 years, but that only seems to be refering to the number of miles of pipe, not the volume. If there are 5000 miles of 5 inch radius pipe built, is that more than 2000 miles of 6 foot radius pipe?

I want it built and couldn't give two poops about how many birds or people have to die in order to do it.

No.

Obviously the question would be how much oil flows through the entirety of US made pipelines vs the Keystone.

That's the obvious, yes.

but read the quote and what it's referencing:
Between 2009 and 2013, more than 8,000 miles of oil transmission pipelines have been built in the past five years in the U.S., AOPL spokesperson John Stoody said, compared to the 875 miles TransCanada wants to lay in the states of Montana, South Dakota and Nebraska for its 830,000-bpd project. By last year, the U.S. had built 12,000 miles of pipe since 2010.

It's straight up just talking about miles, not capacity.

I'm going to be honest here... I don't know enough about Keystone to be for or against it... but I know a bullpoop argument when I read one.

And I'm also not sure we get the best end of the deal, financially, by piping all our oil to the states, so they can refine it, and sell it back to us at a higher price.

edit: especially when you consider that the falling price of oil makes the tar sands less profitable.

You're right. They should be refining crude in Canada.

I have no idea why they want to transport it all over the world to be refined somewhere else. They should be looking at clean energy anyway.

Earnhardt Jr. said. "They all went in there hard. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I mean I've seen guys get wrecked but damn, he put that (expletive) in the fence. Anyhow, don't wreck Matt. Don’t piss Matt off because that's what you get."

Today the National Motorsports Final Appeals Officer, Mr. Bryan Moss, heard and considered the appeal of a Behavioral Penalty issued on Nov. 3, 2015 to Matt Kenseth (driver) relative to NASCAR Sprint Cup Series vehicle #20 at Martinsville Speedway. The penalty concerns the following sections in the 2015 NASCAR Rule Book: Sections 12.1 and 12.8. The original penalty assessed included suspension from NASCAR until the completion of the next two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events and placed on NASCAR probation for six months following the issuance of the Penalty Notice. Upon hearing this afternoon's testimony, the National Motorsports Final Appeals Officer made the following decisions:
1. The Appellant violated the Rules set forth in the Penalty Notice;
2. The Penalty is amended to: "Suspended from NASCAR until the completion of the next two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship Events. Placed on NASCAR probation through December 31, 2015."
The decision of the National Motorsports Final Appeals Officer is final and binding on all parties.(NASCAR)

AND: "It didn't turn out like we wanted," Kenseth said after the final decision was announced. "I'm obviously more than a little disappointed on the decision and the penalties to start with. I'm the first driver in the 65-year history of NASCAR to get suspended for an incident that happened in a Sprint Cup Series race. I feel like I was unfairly made the example instead of knowing where the line is and what the penalties are. I'm extremely disappointed, but we'll get through this and go to Homestead.
"I'm not going to change who I am, not going to change what I stand for, I'm not going to change how I race. I've been in this business for a long time, I feel like I've had a pretty good career to this point and I feel like I'm going to continue to have the respect on the racetrack I feel like I deserve. I'm looking forward to going to Homestead, hopefully going there and getting a win before the year is out.

The Canadian Oil that would be delivered to Texas, via the KXL, would displace the same amount of Oil, currently be imported from Venezuela and or Saudi Arabia.
