dellio strikes again

Urine has been blamed for the structural decay of a San Francisco light pole that crushed a car this week. There was no wind, no storm, just an old, rusty pole. Fortunately, the man inside the car was unharmed.

Dog urine (and hopefully ONLY dog urine) is what likely caused the corrosion of the “extremely thing metal” supporting the pole, and San Franciscans are wondering how many other poles are in danger. The city has put an assessment program in place to evaluate the city’s aging light poles and replace them when necessary. 160 poles have already been replaced on Guerero Street alone after two poles on that street toppled over.

Dog owners, please teach your dogs to use a toilet like civilized human beings. Yeesh.

That's better as they later said that the dog urine may have been a contributing factor, IIRC... In my pea brain I fail to see how a bit of pee here and there, or even daily, would be near the factor rain that falls often throughout the year, and at times could last for quite some time... The dogs can only pee so much, and their pee wouldn't cover the entire base as rain would.

Is it the kind that is basically water and can maybe... you know... cause rust?

A lot of water trumps a little urine when it comes to things rusting... as I see it.

Exactly what to you you your Canadian Canines that gives them magical power to dissolve metal poles so diligently?

Our dogs get no seal penii of any sort... and very little elk as a rule... and only get maple syrup with their Sunday Pancakes/Waffle/French Toast -- unless they have been bad that week; in that case have to settle for Mrs. Butterworths -- We do have Acid Rain though... Our poles are done in by rain without a doubt and the pooch pee actually reinforces the poles to some degree.

a half a roll of duct tape around the bottom of each pole and they'll last forever.

no idea why they don't just do this as soon as they install each pole (code).
