I think both Pegula and the regime change in the front office has done a lot for the sabres when it comes to how they're viewed by the NHL. Now of course, TM could easily ruin that if he doesnt watch what he says.
- seedy

Honestly, I think TM is golden in the eyes of Bettman (at least for all of next yr anyways) as far as "tanking" goes.

Murray has a great alibi... He didnt make the Buffalo Sabres bad!

They were already the worst team in the league when he signed up!!

So he locked up A coach, cut loose some dead weight rent-a-players, swung some trades, drafted a lot of kids... And is moving along quite swimmingly.

In Tim Murray's presser he did say that they would most likely just be touching up Rochester for the next couple days and he did that by adding Strachen. When asked about Ott though he said prolly not with the moves he made on July 1st but depending on what happens today (July 2nd) he could entertain the idea of bringing him back. Bryan Murray today said he is still trying to iron out a deal for a winger but there has been debate over the prospects being sent in return for the past couple of days. Stewart has been linked to Ottawa ever since the Blues made him available and even after the sabres acquired him they tried to flip him to Ottawa but the price was deemed to high for BM at that time. Yesterday Shane Prince was held out of development camp by the Sens and was seen in the restaurant with no apparent injury of any sort. He is a Rochester native and was drafted by Tim while he was still in Ottawa. I could be full of poop but I still have a feeling that they are trying to iron out a deal that would send stewart to Ottawa in return for Shane Prince + and Tim is trying hard to get another prospect or two that Bryan is unwilling to give up at this time.

Bryan Murray also said after signing Legwand that he still has a trade that is being finalized for a winger...

Hm.. Really? Did he say those exact words?

I saw your post about shooting 81 with the 3 birdies

Just finished my round, 79 with 10 pars and 1 birdie.

I cant remember where the exact quote was, but after the Legwand signing he did say, 'We continue to talk, we've had discussions about a trade that has gone on for a period of time now, it's just a matter of if we can get satisfaction both ways.'

Also @TSNSteveLloyd said, 'Despite Legwand signing, the #Sens are still trying to get something else done via trade.'

If it is in regards to the Buffalo trade rumors it sounds like Tim Murray is playing hardball and trying to over value his players. Which is in line with what he told the media, that unless someone is willing to overpay he isnt shopping his players.

Well if you consistently shoot an 81, you're like a 10ish handicap depending on the course.

Perhaps just as importantly getting rid of the goals he would have scored this season. If the deal includes Hodgson (which I dont see why it would since they have Legwand now), thats even more goals gone.

That doesn't guarantee him a roster spot... it just means his contract is set at his current rate regardless of where he plays (NHL or AHL). Two-way contracts pay at different rates depending on where the player is playing. I think his contract being a one-way deal also counts against the cap, regardless of whether or not he plays in Buffalo. Which could have been seen as an advantage by Murray with the cap floor situation.

That could be a deal for Patrick Sharp or Chris Stewart or whomever, obviously... but it will be interesting if the deal is indeed with Buffalo. What if both deals are made? Nick Leddy was supposed to head to Ottawa with Sharp in the deal, sending Lazar and Greening and another player to Chicago. I could see Buffalo sending Stewart to Ottawa (maybe with Adam?) for Leddy and Prince. Then moving Myers to Detroit for Mantha and another piece and/or draft pick.

Of Stone, Puempel and Prince, which one has the most upside?

So he didn't say winger.. That was the big word for me. Only because there's been talks about other players coming to Ottawa as well...

I do think it could be Stewart it makes a lot of sense. If it is with Murray this is how I take it

"Me and Tim continue to talk we've had discussions about a trade sense pretty much the trade deadline but Tim is playing hard ball and wants prospects I wont give up. We could still do something here but if not I can probably get a player from another team. But I wont force a trade."

definitely Puempel. Probaby the closest to NHL ready, followed by Stone and Prince.

My best guess is if they do end up moving Stewart alone or Stewart & random forward for a package that they sign Ott

IMO it's Stone. Put up 123 points in 66 junior games in 2011-2012. Put up 41 points in 37 games in the AHL, 8pts in 19 with Ottawa this year, and is a big body. Puempel didn't even crack pt/gm status in his last junior year, and didn't do nearly as well in the AHL. Puempel is also not nearly as physical, and is much smaller.

I know we just signed the one defenseman for the 2 way contract but we really need to sign one or two more defenseman for Rochester.. Right now I count it as

Bagnall Brady G Leduc Strachan

NHL

Myers, Weber, Georges, Pysyk, Meszaros

Then guys that could go either way

McCabe, Ristolainen, Ruhwedel maybe Zadorov if he can make the roster.

They will need 7 defenseman on the NHL roster for sure it's just a necessity. So if you add two from the maybes lets say McCabe and Ristolainen that makes 7. Zadorov goes back to juniors Ruhwedel to AHL. Still leaves only 5 in AHL...

We wouldn't be getting Stone for Stewart

I think OTT trades for Marleau anyway
