I'm not influenced by anyone on this site. I'm merely saying that he doesn't deserve the same type of contract that Hall, Eberle, or Nuge has because he has not earned it. If you are saying that he does deserve a 6 million dollar contract for 5+ years, then you should get off whatever drug you are doing and give your head a shake, because yakupov, at this point in his career, does not deserve 6 million.

Obviously this can change if let's say he gets 70+ points next year. Then if I were MacT I'd give him that deal (or a bridge deal to see if he can do it again) and we can live happily ever after.

Murray also got to play sheltered minutes against easier competition along side a vet Dman. When he didnt play with Wiz he didnt fare too well. On the Oilers he would not be getting those same easy minutes.
- Iggysbff

What about Yak though? He never fared to good against tough competitors, nor was he too great on the 3rd line. (Can't blame him, you're playing with Smyth & Gordon? You aren't getting many points.) It's to difficult to compare a defense man with a forward because they play different styles.

Now you are deflecting from what I said, to putting words in my mouth, then suggesting I am on drugs
The whole Russian bolt to the KHL thing and crap about his agent, are absolutely influenced upon you by the trolls. You didn't arrive at this summation by using concise, objective, unbiased thinking. This is a stereotype of Russian players that you are perpetrating.

Never once said over hyping. Said thrives, and wasn't rushed were inaccurate. He also averaged just under 20mins/game, while Yakupov who for some reason you are comparing him to averaged just over 14 mins. Murray has played one NHL season. If he doesn't play well next year in his sophomore season just as yak did this year, will he suddenly become rushed and underachieving????

If you could go back to the 2012, who would you pick 1st overall?

If it is too difficult to compare them, then why the f#ck did you compare them in the first place by listing their stats from last season?

You wanna play the hindsight game??? That is the easiest game to play. Simple. Mark "the janitor" Jankowski.

I am happy with yak, but an argument can easily be made for Murray to have been out pick that year.

Well yeah the hindsight game is basically irrelevant as any moron can play it. The Philadelphia Flyers don't pick Pelle Lindbergh either in that game.
There is always an argument made when looking back. The key is that a GM has to have the balls to pick in the moment. At this point still Yak because Murrays numbers do not transfer over to the Oilers with the team they had last year. Then it is "rushed" and "bust"

I know it looked like I just contradicted what I just said, but consider Murray had similar stats to a forward, that just proves that he can probably become one of the top offensive defense men in the league. (Which we need, right?)

Of course I could be totally wrong. Yakupov could manage a 40 goal season with 80 points, and Murray kill his knee or something, and boom I'm wrong.

I'd rather would've taken Murray over Yakupov, we didn't need Yak, but we needed defense men, and we passed up on a good one.

I meant at the draft. I was, and am happy we picked Yak, but Murray would not have been a bad choice.

Never said he was a bust. He was rushed, like LD if he plays. Yak could have benefited from another year in Sarina where he dominated the game.

Dude it doesn't prove anything after only 66gp in the NHL or the same argument could have been made after Yaks season last year. You also fail to take into account that he played for a playoff team, had better support and better coaching by a staff that didn't change after his first year. Lots of variables to consider.

Debateable. Some players dont develop when they are not challenged. Another year in junior could have set his development back and reenforced his lack of defensive play.

People also said guys like Seguin, Stamkos, Hedman etc were rushed....
People are stupid. Just because a guy isnt instantly a superstar before they are 20 doesnt mean they were rushed...all players take time. This "rushed" thing is nonsense. If they are good enough to play in the league then fine. If not send them down.

This post you commented on was a response to Abware not you. So how you took what I said to him, to be about you is kinda goofy.
Yak really doesn't benefit from another year in Junior because he is sooo far ahead of his competition in that league. You don't get better playing against people that are far below your own skill set. You grow through adversity.

Yeah I know exactly what you meant and I totally agree. At the time, he was the highest ranked and best player available. He also proved to help the Oil out far more after being able to play, as opposed to being injured like Murray.

ROR played wing all year. Has not been great at C....In fact was not great at all without Duchene as his Center.
- Iggysbff

this is completely and totally false.
you say I overrate players. you make sh1t up about the ones you dont like for whatever personal reason. and there's ALOT of them

now you're faulting him for playing with good players???

you didnt watch that avs series. he was great with duchene and still ran the line without him. he ended with 6 points and 9 takeaways in that series. 4 points without duchene.
his defensive game was outstanding. and he put up numbers.

and where did you get that he wasnt good at center?? thats total bs. the avs have the luxury to put him at wing on their best line. this isnt an indication that hes somehow bad at center. duchene, ror, stastny and mackinnon are all centers. clearly they didnt want him a bottom 6 role. so you make adjustments.

all his advanced stats are strong. his regular season stats are strong. his playoff stats are strong. he doesnt take penalties. he puts up points. hes good defensively. hes good at both ends of the ice.

you dont have to like the guy, but to say he isnt very good is either personal, or an indication that you havent seen nearly enough of him

Agreed with the rushed department. If a player is that good, then he will develop in the NHL, but it could take longer than others. Only real way a player is rushed is if he has injuries or could benefit from more time to physically develop, but in the new NHL it is tough to say someone is not man enough as the game has changed so much post lockouts with all the rule changes.

I think he just said "wasn't great", not "isn't very good". There is a difference.
