That I wouldn't feel so great about, he is far better suited for the AHL; I cant get on the Gibbons train. |

Yep. Anthrocon starts this weekend. It's the largest annual mascot-f*cking convention in the country. A friend & I were going to go with me dressed as a dude going on a safari (think that guy from Jumanji) and her in THE sluttiest leopard costume I've ever seen. But she screwed up her back a few weeks back & is bed-ridden.
Next year though... watch out. - ScienceJesus

I'm with you on that I'm not a big gibby guy. Madden said yesterday there was 1 person who thought he was an NHL player and that was bylsma. He looks to be right considering he hasn't been signed yet |

Anyone listen to Madden's rant yesterday about Adams?
He was talking about what a locker room issue he was, always in Dan's office, young players didn't like him as he tried to intimidate them, etc.. |

This is very very interesting, I don't like the sound of this at all. HCMJ better take care of good old grey beard ASAP. |

Sounds really odd... I don't recall ever hearing an issue about Adams before. You'd think a lifetime bottom 6 player wouldn't try to be an intimidator to teammates. |

If he was truly an issue, I'm sure the new regime will deal with it. They have no emotional ties to him like Bylsma and Shero. If he's a headache, he's an easily removed one. |

Very true... especially being an already questionable spot on the 4th line if he makes it this year. I simply don't believe these claims, far too late in a career to just now hear this. |

That's the beauty of this is there are no attachments from management. Decisions are being based on present vs past |

Rutherford needs to take things to the next level. Here's my plan. If this works you would have to get Scuderi off the books which I'm not sure if it's possible or not.
Rutherford should offer sheet Riley Smith from the Bruins for the max of a second round pick. I think it's around 3.2 million. No matter what happens we hurt the Bruins whom is obviously a contender in our conference.
If it works we lose a 2nd but gain a RW for our top line. If not Bruins have even more cap problems they will have to deal with. |

No one likes to rock the boat with offer sheets... But would Rutherford care if he's not going to be here in a few years?
But starting offer sheet poaching might not be the best idea in the world with our young defensemen on the horizon. |

Messed around quite a bit on capgeek today and came up with a roster of:
Bennett-Crosby-Marleau
Kunitz-Malkin-Hornqvist
Dupuis-Goc-Downie
Comeau-Spaling-Adams
Letang-Ehrhoff
Despres-Maatta
Harrington-Dumoulin
Bortuzzo
Niemi
Greiss
Cap Space: 6.3 mil
Moves made:
1. Trade Scuderi for absolutely anything, just clear his space somehow. With the abundance of cap space left we could also potentially retain some $ in a deal if necessary.
2. Trade Sutter for picks
3. Trade Martin, Fleury, and acquired picks for Marleau and Niemi
This is clearly just a pipedream, but I believe it makes sense in a lot of situations because SJ could definitely use a top4 dman and gets a top2 with Martin. Furthermore with Niemi and MAF being relatively close as goalies, the picks can serve as compensation for the Niemi's lower cap hit. From the pens perspective the most concerning thing is the youth in the D, but I believe these particular young players would be able to handle it and if not there's enough space to sign a vet Dman.
EDIT:
I'd also prefer having Gibbons on the 4th in place of Adams |

There are a lot of cap strapped teams (I'm looking at you, Boston!) with some interesting RFA's. As a GM you do risk damaging your rep and black balling yourself whenever you need a potential trade partner, but this is a new era. I think you're going to start to see that unwritten rule fade away.
If you do tender an offer to someone else's RFA then you better be prepared whenever one of your guys come due. |

Agree. It seems only desperate and dbags go the offersheet route. I don't see it from JR. |

I don't know... I could see JR being a total Dbag. Hes old, why is he gonna care what others think of him? I feel like he'd be more likely to do such over a younger GM who (assuming on their part) has another decade or two of wheeling and dealing. |
