Why can't people be patient and endure one more bad season?

Weak. Then there is our team.

- Herzeleid

I can be patient, just don't want to be. I have serious concerns that all of the kids are going to come up at once to be on the big club. I don't think that will work.

Stop worrying. Murray said he's bringing up 2-3 players a year. Not all at once. Till then, he'll keep plugging in with vets.

i want the sabres to win too. badly. but they are/were caught up in this viscious cycle of being bad enough to never win anything, and being just good enough to never get a difference maker in the draft. the last gm rolled snake eyes on guys he thought he should build around. its a brand new team, and its gonna look like an expansion team for a year or two. we have fans that deserve a winner, and an owner that expects one. just gonna take some time.
- rover16

THIS .. It is like an expansion team...fun to watch develop from the beginning...and this is we're is is..the beginning. Hold onto you seat my friend..in 3 years you will love, LOVE this team...enjoy the next 3 getting there!

Best advise - sell your tickets . You are not going to deal well with the pain involved here to do this right. Detroit used to scout Europe better than everyone else . They used to be a preferred destination for free agents . They do let their young players develop the best in Juniors and the AHL. 2 of those three are not true anymore . Thus the shine is slowly wearing off the Wings.

That fella by the name of Lidstrom sure hoovered up a lot of issues for that team...

In an interview after the Gionta press conference.

Edit: The quote I was refering to is towards the end, although in the very beginning he says something like depending on what he does today they might have room for Ott, which makes it seem like he has a deal lined up and is waiting to pull the trigger.

When did he say this? In the presser where they introduced Gionta he said he's basically done and shifting his focus to the Rochester Americans.

It must be the rumored Hosge /Stew deal. Let's see where he takes us...he will need to slow down, he's putting the McEichel draft at risk now

I posted a link to it... He did mention Rochester, but who he signed in Rochester wouldn't affect wether or not he signs Ott, so there is obviously something else. He is being coy.

hahaha in no way did he say a big move was going to happen tomorrow.. I've listened to it twice.. He said he expects their may be more calls on AHL players tomorrow but that's it.

I dont know. If he trades Hodgson and/or Stewart for a pick and prospect that means a lot less goals, even with the addition of Ott. (Maybe especially with Otts -38 last year). So if anything that helps the chances for the draft.

Don't be surprised to see Grigorenko moved before this summer is over.

You are right, he didnt say 'big move', but look at the roster and look who Murray would have to move to make room for Ott, that other teams would be actually interested in. That would be Hodgson or Stewart, and I guess he said people have been calling about Foligno. Put two and two together...

Absolutely. The only other real option is to see if he can adapt to wing in Rochester this season. Otherwise trade him while other teams can still see potential in him.

Sure didn't say that wasn't going to happen but in the presser he didn't say a big move was coming tomorrow.. He did say there was a spot for Ott today but there could be tomorrow. Sort of like "Maybe if a trade comes my way hypothetically then he can come here but right now I don't see it"

On the Grigorenko front I think we keep him at least till trade deadline.. The guy hasn't even had a full season in the AHL... Let's see what he can do with some consistency against grown men first before we ship him off..

Unless it's in a package for a proven young NHL player he'd be stupid to.

I get it if he isn't a Hodgson fan or Stewart fan, but he shouldn't be trading guys while their value is low.

I've seen the rumors with Hodgson and Stewart but the way you said the big move thing made it seem like he said he was going to be making a move tomorrow. I took it more as "If for some reason a trade happens then maybe there will be a spot for Ott but right now we don't plan on it so go try and sign for another team"
