First and last sentences are the only things I disagree with, Homie. Nolan isn't Rolston, but he's not competent, either.

Unsure, boss has been out of town and comes back sometime on Saturday. I've been in charge for the week and will need to sit down with him and hand over the paperwork for the week plus go over everything from the week.
- dadeadhead

Well, let me know when you figure it out. Just need to know how many people we're gonna need to feed.

Wow. Those 2 will have the worst plus minus in history.

Dont need to be together. See Del Zotto playing with Myers if he did come here.

a competent coach to start training camp helps

hoff mailed it in, jorges is an upgrade
meszaros is an upgrade over hank

gionta will be a great mentor
I'll take moulson for 82 games over vanek, any day of the week

girgens gets a bit more mature
stewart and staff in a contract year

a goalie competition instead of 1 goalie playing 8 games out of ten and pouting when the other goalie gets back to back starts

no john scott

a better 4th line

and did I mention a full training camp with a competent coach

- homiedclown

All that to me sounds like it adds up to 15 more wins. A a great improvement but playoff talk should be on hold.

And I still can't see Murray wanting this team to be 9th to 12 team anyways. Why would you set yourself up with three 1sts only to diminish the best one's value significantly (and the teams future success) by gunning for 9th?

IMO, Meszaros, Staff, Stewart and one of Hodgson/Grigorenko could be moved within the next 6 months.

I can see that we won't be McDavid/Eichel front runners and I think there are other players beyond them that can help us, but if he's not drafting top 7 next year then he better be trading those three 1sts and a prospect or two for someone's who's already considered elite.

2x's better? I like the moves TM made, but to say the roster is that much better? I guess I choose to see this team with my eys and not my heart.
- jzabawaj

I like the moves TM made...it is aimed at leadership and mentoring for the youngin's coming up. I don't expect them to be significantly better than last year. Gionta is old and past his prime...great leadership abilities though...that is why he is here. gorges is an upgrade on D for sure...Moulson, we had him last year...maybe we'll get more out of him if Reinhart is that special players to set him up. Mozoros is a replacement for Erhoff. We still have suspects in goal and Stafford and Stewert need to prove themselves, they are question marks. Now if all the stars align, he's they could be 10 wins better...but still a bottom feeder, bottom 5 in my mind.

They will be no worse than what Calgary was last year. The quality of this roster is 2x's better than what it was last year and Murray isn't done yet.
- dadeadhead

how? the only real upgrade is gionta over leino. moulson=moulson, erhoff is probably better than gorges. mcbain is gone and reinhart may or may not be here, but miller is gone and theres some serious questions in net. everybody has a different philosophy about what it takes to win- advanced stats, compete, whatever, but at the end of the day we still have to outscore the other team, and im not sure how often thats gonna happen.

Goaltending a big question mark. Still really thin down the middle.

Myers?

But I agree with most of your points. Big upgrades in Gionta, Moulson, Gorges, and Meszaros.

Is Mike Weber still on the team?

don't be shocked if kaleta does not make the team and if lemieux does

- homiedclown

If that scenario played out, I would be absolutely shocked.

If Lemeiux makes the team, I'll change my avatar to go leafs go this year.

Edit: Lemeuix makes it, Kaleta doesn't

It sounded like they were with the exception of perhaps trading Stewart/Hodgson (probably for picks/prospects and even then that's not really an official rumor or anything with real traction) and adding some depth for Rochester.

That's not throwing him in the mud.

It's showing you Hiller is just as good as Miller.

- dadeadhead

Stats make a lot of people look better/worse than what they really are.

That doesn't tell a whole story..

Cheechoo scored 56 goals in a season which is more then Ovechkin, Mogilny, Lemieux, Jagr, Hull, Lafontaine, Recchi, Andreychuk, Hawerchuk, Robitaille, Roenick

so obviously Cheechoo>>>>>> all of them.

Maybe go to the Dr's and get them checked?

Again fans(maybe not you) have a McEichel hard on and are setting themselves up for disappointment. People are going to lose their minds if they don't land one of them. Me if we do awesome, if not I trust TM. In the end I'll still get up and go about my day.

- dadeadhead

Yes I want McEichel just like almost everyone else. I do see big improvements this year, just not in the standings. We were really bad last year as you know. I see big question marks in goaltending (I don't need to see Miller vs Enroth career stats) and defense and still don't see consistent scoring in this lineup.

Just an IMO this draft reminds me of the draft Colorado had in 09 when Duchene and ROR made the team.

Wouldn't surprise me if Rhynheart and Lemieux make the team out of camp.

I don't get why people say that the goaltending is going to be worse. We don't know that yet. While it is a big question mark, I'm not about to say right off the bat it's going to be worse.

Had the team been able to score a minimum of 2 goals a game, then maybe Enroth would have been able to get a few more wins last year when Miller wasn't in net.

Only teams I see as a lock for the playoffs are Pittsburgh, Boston, and TB. The rest of the conference is up for grabs.

Neuvirth is the question mark if he can stay healthy. If healthy you won't miss Miller in the least.

I think Neuvirth is really the wild card here. I think Enroth is more than capable, but I think Neuvirth could surprise us all.

Pittsburgh is one concussion away from not being a lock
