Your also mentioning a time when the Islanders were a consistent playoff team

incorrect...again...from the 94-95 through 2000-01 season they didnt once make the playoffs. only after the spezza draft did they qualify for the playoffs.

I don't disagree...but we do have a great stockpile of up and comers its almost like we want to wait for that. Do we trade Bailey and Donovan for Phaneuff? Again, the last time we did these kinds of things with Yashin and Peca we apparently got fleeced because Spezza became who he did and so did Chara.

You can't be worried about trades in the past. Also you get Phaneuf. Are more competitive and make the playoffs then who cares what becomes of the players we traded away

stop crying its embarrassing...if the islanders start winning, people will start signing. it really is that simple.

You truly are an idiot. If the Islanders start winning...??? Its been 7 years under Garth. When is that going to happen? 4 playoff appearances under Wang's 15 years? No playoff series wins since 1993...21 years. When the Isles start winning? You don't do that if you can't put quality players on the ice and the Islanders haven't. Look at least season's AHL defense.

Look at the signings yesterday, we payed 4.25 million to one player when 5.5 would have kept Moulson and we would have had a much more productive player and no hole on our first line. Instead, we are out a 1st and 2nd round pick and have 10 months of drama.

Snow deserved to get killed in the media with the Vanek trades. Not only was it well known he wanted Minnesota, but it was the DEFENSE that was the problem, not the offense. Instead of addressing the defense, which was AHL quality and still is, he let us play an entire season with a worse defense than the year before...praising dust bin projects like Hickey as legit nhl dmen when they aren't.

So stop being an apologist and get a clue.

First- it would take more than Donovan and Bailey to land Phaneuf from Toronto. It would like be a demand of Brock Nelson + Ryan Strome from Toronto and I wouldn't package them.

If Bailey is involved, it would likely be Bailey, Nelson, Donovan PLUS a pick.

Toronto isn't just going to give away Phaneuf. They don't HAVE to move Phaneuf as they are nearly 15 million under the cap ceiling.

The only thing the Isles have is Phaneuf is signed for 4 more seasons at 7 mill per. That can cause the Leafs to lower their asking price, but they aren't forced to deal him due to the cap ceiling.

I'd go looking at teams that are in serious cap crunches like the Avs, Bruins, and Blackhawks. It sounds like the Bhawks are looking to move Sharp to create space, but Boston might have to part with a dman. Boycheck only has a year left on his deal and is a 3.5 mill cap hit. Seindenberg has 4 yrs at a hit of 4 million a year. If Boston is going to move a dman, its one of them.
