Thoughts on this
Bennett sid Hornqvist
Kunitz geno spaling
Megna sutter dupes
Comeau Goc downie
Or we just sticking too
Kuni sid dupes
Bennett geno Hornqvist
Spaling sutter downie
Megna goc comeau - nh4442
My thoughts are that is not a cup winning roster. |

Goc is plenty good as a third line center. You'd be surprised just how close they are from an offensive standpoint.
The Penguins third line center just has to be able to take on a defensive role and not drown in it. Goc can do that and he does it at 1.2M. Sutter looking at 3.5M from what I hear, perhaps up to 4M. No thanks.
Like I said today. Don't fall in love with average players. If they make sense financially keep them if not, move them (applies to MAF as well). - Ryan_Wilson
I agree with you on the price tag for Sutter, but the player is better than most give him credit for. No he is by no means elite, but if Jokinen can get 4m on the open market, I'll keep Sutter for 3m and be quite happy.
As for MAF, I have to admit I'm one of the ones that will look over his faults and defend him. I think he is an average-good NHL caliber goalie, and if he could become more consistent and get more defensive help he could still be better than what he is now. Is he worth the 5m a year... no, but if the Pens were to resign him for a 3years at 3-4m I'd be good with that. Would be about his UFA worth and give us time to see if Jarry will be the goalie of the future |

I am giddy thinking about the first person that goes after Sid, and Downie ripping him apart like a rabid wolverine. |

No, offense to you but why do I keep seeing people move Spaling up the depth chart? Dude is a career 4th liner.

I'm nowhere near panic mode however my confidence will remain low due to the recovery and ability of dupes, the durability and productivity of Bennett, recovery and fear of a sophomore jinx to maatta, and the age creep of Kunitz. Panic mode won't kick in until November |

Not in panic mode either, but there is a lot wishing and hoping with this roster. I think JR did some nice work on the 4th line, but like you say, the top 6 wing position is concerning to say the least. |

Didn't he score 2 goals in like 8 seconds on us in Tampa? |

Downie first target will prob be Giroux after he grabs Sid's ass...
Then suspension time for Downie, and jail time for Giroux |

I hope the on ice officials watch each other's back when he's on the ice the season. |

Marleau makes 6.67m a year. That would be counter prodcutive imo, opens another spot and eats more cap space. |

Rutherford said he can play anywhere on 3rd line and tocchet saying guys should be able to move up and down a line... I dunno.. just trying to balance out lines... hey I'm all for putting spaling on 4th line and megna on 3rd... but I'm not the coach |

I was just trying to get a top 6 guy that I figured woul work well on our team, I forgot to mention we take Scuds out behind the barn and shoot him in this scenario as well. |

How exactly? Sutter is set to make at least $2.7M and the only reason he's going to be moved is because it's likely going to be more than that. They'd be saving a little bit and upgrade the Top 6. Goc and Spaling would take over at 3C and 4C. We're talking about what could be even to saving $1.5M. |

I vote we sign Luis Suárez, teach him to skate, and stick him on the 4th line after buying out (regular buy out) Adams with Downie.

If you trade Sutter and Martin for Marleau we send away about 7.7m and take back 6.67m. That is 1m in savings.
Is 1m really worth downgrading our defense with losing Martin? |

Ehrhoff helps with the loss of Niskanen/Orpiks. Take away Martin, have a huge question mark in Scuderi and remember we are without Maata to start the year...
That is a lot of expectations for Hoff and the young prospects to make up for |

Not sure why the Sharks would be interested in Sutter with Thornton/Pavelski/Cotoure all set. |
