Not trading Ehrhoff is about as clear of a sign that they are tanking as you can get. They can talk all they want, hide behind a much less than likely apocalypse scenario all they want, and use whatever buzz words they want, but letting a very tradable asset walk for nothing is a clear sign they don't intend on winning many games this year.

How do you not understand that there were cllear ramifications involved with a trade. The offers murray was receiving were not worth the risk.

Everyone's entitled to their opinions, and I'm pretty much right there with you as far as them not winning games, but let's see who they sign and/or trade for.

But, that being said, I'm ready to see this rebuild thing through.

I firmly expect to come out of tomorrow with 1, maybe 2 of Gionta, Ott, Moulson and Orpik

I have no use for Orpik or Gionta

Neither do I, but that's the point

As I've said before, I understand the ramifications that were involved. I'd still rather them get assets in return. The odds of him retiring in 2019 were low. It's little more than a "chicken little" scenario to me.

The contract was fine. The recapture was the landmine, the recapture which was put into place after the deal was signed. The league making that retroactive was as bushleague as it gets.
- buffalofan19

The cap hit was fine, the contract length and recapture wasn't

I have hard time believing Nolan goes into the season wanting to lose every night as well the players coming into the arena saying lets see how we can lose tonight and get booed off the ice.Maybe some of the fans would tho.

If the best offer was a 2nd rounder and okay prospect, would you make the deal knowing the risk? Not trying to make a point just asking.

.......Or they don't want to get hit with a huge penalty down the road when Ehrhoff is an afterthought.

Do you really believe that some team offered a boatload for Ehrhoff, and Murray declined because of tanking?

Yes. We're talking about one season which might cause the problem. To me, it's like refusing to invest your money in a retirement fund because a collapse like 2009 might happen 10 years down the road.

Ok, how would anyone know that? He will be 37-38 years old? Making a very small salary.

In 3 years when people say Ehrhoff most of us will have forgotten he played here

Might take Moultson for 5 per or less.Ott why ? We have enough third liners and Girgs is Capt material.

IMO, Gionta would be the only one out of the 4 that would sign a 2 year deal. I think the rest will want a 3-4 deals. I was told earlier today Moulson wants to come back but it would have to be more then a 2 year deal. I think Ott will get more then 2 years from the Flyers or the Rangers if they can't resign Boyle. Orpik seems he would have his choice on teams.

It's a penalty which probably would not have come to fruition. I've argued ad nauseum about this. I'd rather my team not operate scared of a much less than likely scenario, but that's just me.

Usually when we disagree, at least you make valid points..... This one you are off the deep end.

Imagine if LA had a 10 cap hit this season...... They don't win the cup.

Why are we still talking about Ehrhoff? he's gone and so is that bad contract, one of the best moves Murray has made yet.

Can't please everyone . And Tim is not trying hard enough obviously . I admire that he has a vision . And does not want anything effecting it that he is not in control of.
