This Spezza trade really does have an impact on us, even if we don't realize it right away.

Dallas is in the central division. Along with St. Louis. We have St. Louis's 1st rounder next year. It's possible that they end up in the lottery as well, since they very well may miss the playoffs if every other team around them gets better.

Going to be really interesting season even though we're going to be very bad.

Garriouch said that Ottawa is not done trading today... not by a long shot..

They have long since been attached to Chris Stewart.

Sharp is apparently a bad guy in the room. Plus, he has been wildly inconsistent over the past several seasons.
- benny948

He wears a A.

Doubt he's bad in the room if that's the case. It's not like they're hurting for leaders in Chicago.

Wildly inconsistent?

Have you looked at his stats? He's about as consistent as you could want.

My father brought up a good point, Hitchcock had a similar flame out in Philly after being one of the best teams in the NHL, they went downhill fast

If you think Sharp is consistent, watch 10 Chicago games and you will change your opinion. Someone said Sharp got into a fight with a higher ranking player on Chicago radio.

Bingo.

That means they have to rely on Elliott, and while he's had good stretches, he's also had bad ones. Their goaltending is a huge question mark for them right now.

It's not out of the realm of possibility. Plus Hitch tends to wear out his welcome after a bit. I have a feeling that he's approaching that just by the way they fell apart during the playoffs.

led the team in points

there was a two week stretch where he went off in half the games, good 2 weeks to have him on your fantasy team

he also probably has the highest ppg stat for the hawks over the last 3 seasons

I watch lots of Chicago games, so I know plenty about how the entire team plays.

I can't beleive they didn't buy out Clarkson... what a dumpster fire that contract was for them last year.

Word is that Lupol could be dealt today... could be the piece they are trying to send MTL for Gorges

- JVince11

The Leafs are stuck with Clarkson. He has a buyout proof contract:

It would appear that the Leafs, in their infinite wisdom, managed to give David Clarkson what is perhaps the NHL's first buyout-proof contract. Including the $4.5m he is earning this season, a buyout this June would net Clarkson something like $34m; or roughly 93% of the total value of the contract. A buyout would save the Leafs almost nothing ($2.6m or so). All in all, the only hope Leaf fans have is that Clarkson finds some way to contribute on a regular basis for the next 4 seasons or so.

He is soft, old, and mentally weak.

Sharp's monthly stats:
October: 2 goals
November: 8 goals
December: 12 goals
January: 6 goals
February: 0 goals (only 6 gp)
March: 3 goals
April: 3 goals

Playoffs:
Stl series: 1 goal
Min series: 1 goal
La series: 3 goals (stepped it up in last game with 2 goals)

Does that look inconsistent to you? That line runs around Kane. During the playoffs, the lack of speed Sharp and Handzus possess was hindering Patty.
