I have to admit that I was shocked they bought him out. But I do like that he didn't walk away from the reason he did it. I would think his moves have been turning heads within the players in the league and more importantly the players on the team.

The method was to ensure that they aren't handcuffed by his contract later on down the road. He pretty much wanted a clean slate.

It's about as clean as it could possibly be at this point.

In many ways I would have preferred for him to put his big boy pants on and play to his full capabilities. He's just as responsible for signing that 10 year deal as Darcy is for giving it out. He should have honored it and played the way we know he can.

In other ways, I'm glad that we don't have to worry about being handcuffed by the penalty the league decided to impose waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy after they approved of these deals.

It also makes it hard to sign any new vets because they would have no chance of winning a cup or even making the playoffs unless they signed a 3 year contract. Which TM said he didn't really want to do. I think it is going to be a hard sell to get the vets we need to teach the youngins. Unless we give them double the pay they should be getting. And that really isn't what we should be touting.
