Hate to tell you this but it is not being turned around for a few season . Majority of fans can deal with it . As long as they see a plan implemented. It is not even a good crop of free agents this year . Who has this free agency thing worked for ? They all end up getting bought out . And you can't even do that after this year.

I am all better.. Turned in my seasons. Tell me when we are good again. Take as long as u want to rebuild

Free agency is an awesome tool used correctly, signing role players would being using FA correctly while everyone else bids up "premium" players. If you want to really supplement a core you have to trade future prospects and picks for those players.

We differ in that opinion, I don't see any scenario where we have more points that the Islanders. Well I guess there is one, if Tavares only plays 10 or so games.
- BigStew

It's a crap shoot. We have a ton of almost PPG prospects slowly coming up. All the distractions are gone. The team seems to be heading in the right direction. Plus we don't have Miller losing games for us either

That's not how I understand it.

If he were to reitire before his contract is up, we pay the difference in what's left against our cap. I think the highest could be 10M and the lowest is 3.

- sbroads24

You're right that it is the difference, but it is spread out over the remaining years. If he retired this year it would be 10M over 7 years or 1.4 per. Capgeek has a chart.

"Yea because losing most of our games will really teach the kids how to play."

My argument was directed towards this, not about whether they would come here.

- Sabresfan-365

Its ok if they lose. It might be good to get the core group togethere as early as possible.

Buffalo under no circumstances would they get penalized 10M in one year. 3M is the most in one year.

You better recheck for source there.

Oh I agree with you .I mean who do you want to play for if your an FA ? A team like Columbus or Minnisota or Buffalo years away ?

We are in the position to trade prospects . You develop them more so their value goes up . We need more high end prospects , so we have the luxury of trading them .

I just think we will be that bad next year and the Isles have guys on their team where they could ramble off 5 or 6 in a row. We will have trouble winning 5 in a month, IMO

Go check, I know Yahoo put it out there it would be 10M in one year, but they were wrong. I found a few places that showed what I'm saying.

Makes sense to me . Folks in Buffalo are not happy unless they have a whipping boy the new ones are Myers with the Sabres and EJ with the Bills.

I think you have to wait to have a homegrown core before you start bringing in others from trades. When reinhart, and company start to run the team, then you see if you can bring in a mike richards, or a hossa to bring them to the next level.

So Mr Murray consulted yahoo before he made the decision . That is scary. Any penalty at all can handcuff you if you are looking to make a big move at the trade deadline. I like that we do not have that as an excuse down the road.

I would say those two have a rough year ahead of them if they don't show something. Honestly, expectations have everything to do with the backlash they receive.

Basically what I said. We need more top prospects in our core to set us up for long term success , so we can make those moves.

Well I think this will be a better team then last year altho not sure how much so but Id guess bottom ten in the draft pick come 2015.Nolan alone will have our boys playing hard and the lack of turmoil Terry P and company decided to create from the very start of the last season should help as well.At least this team can start the season with a clear positive direction from day one.

One of my favorite things TM harps on is creating internal competition. I can't stress enough how important I think that is, and how lacking that has been in this organization for, about, like forever.

Folgino if he doesn't improve or Stafford if he falls backwards again
