Actually, I think it's down to 219. I'm pretty sure he hovered around 225 when we drafted him. Either way, he's getting into shape and that's a great thing.

I have a feeling he'll really show up this year in Roch, and may even get time on the big club. His work ethic seems to be quite improved from what I've seen.

Maybe knowing for the past couple of months that the Sabres were more then likely going to draft a top flight center has motivated him

I can't wait to see what he can do in a good culture in Rochester. I think that he'll help Armia get into a good scoring groove.

A useful mentor to the younger players . Seems to be of strong charachter with moral fiber .Who will not undermine the coach . And actually appreciates the City and the fans.

Why do we not need to score goals? if you think they will sign scrubs just to tank you are mistaken. The rebuild has started and next season you might not see a playoff team but you won't see scrubs just to tank for a pick. I don't know when everyone is going to figure it out, how many more picks and prospects do you need? you will not see Murray sign players just to sign players.

I'd take a run at him in FA.

Sabres site has him listed at 209 last year. Here's hoping some extra muscle will help because I recall he got pushed off the puck too easily in his brief stint last year

Yes and no. I just think moving him through the lineup here slowly is the best thing to do.

Backstrom played a small part of his first season on the wing on the 4th line. It was only about 10 games or so, but it gives them a chance to acclimate to the tempo before being asked to do those little things.

Traditionally, your 3rd line is going to be the "checking" line. I don't know that he quite has the frame to play that role currently. But that doesn't mean he can't be successful at the NHL level either.

Anyone outside the top 3-4 draft pick I would agree. SR is suppose to be a can't miss Center. if he needs to be coddled on the wing for a month then, i think, he won't be that Franchise type Center we desperately need. He may still be quite a good NHL'er, but my expectations for the best forward in the draft is very high.

Nothing set in stone we get McDavid and they won't tank just to tank, you're not teaching young players that way and sets s bad example.
