If he needs to be acclimated, then he needs to be put on the third line. If he can't play center at third line speed right away, then be prepared for another marginal 3rd/2nd line center 4 years form now.

Yes and no. I just think moving him through the lineup here slowly is the best thing to do.

Backstrom played a small part of his first season on the wing on the 4th line. It was only about 10 games or so, but it gives them a chance to acclimate to the tempo before being asked to do those little things.

Traditionally, your 3rd line is going to be the "checking" line. I don't know that he quite has the frame to play that role currently. But that doesn't mean he can't be successful at the NHL level either.

Pretty disappointed.. Really wanted Briere here but if that's what it cost to get him then I guess good thing we didn't.. Not sure who Parenteau equates to on our roster? Stewart maybe? But I figured you'd be able to get Briere for like 3-4 round pick given their salary problems.. I don't see us making any trades sadly.. But good bet we have 3-5 FA signings by end of week.

I think it's more of replacing his veteran leadership but allowing the kids to play a more significant role in the actual lineup.

The Sharks idea of a rebuild is to take the C off Thornton just like they did to Marleau and it made not 1 bit of difference. The Sharks have a dysfunctional organization.

In 2 years Foligno will be 24 and will hopefully be allowed to actually play his role on this team. He has been right in the middle of numerous line shuffles and asked too much of imo. If you use him on the forecheck correctly in a 2nd/3rd line role and on the penalty kill then suddenly he becomes very affective.

Then again he may be played out depending on what this roster looks like in 2016. He's worth finding out about though.
