I know about the kids but I thought you'd want them to work their way through Rochester. Although I like Pysyk when I saw him, he looks ready. Ok, fair enough.
- TheJerseyDevil1

Risto, Zads, Pysyk, and McCabe are probably all top 4 material.

We already have Myers up there too.. Weber is a bottom pairing type guy for us..

McBain just doesn't fit in.

2 games. One of the many, many call ups due to injury. He was on like 3 different ECHL teams this year too.
- burner087

He hasn't developed nearly the way they thought he would. And with Hackett, Makarov and Lieuwen all ahead of him in the development curve, it was time to cut ties.

and just drafted a goalie in the 2nd who isn't as far away as some guess. Could be AHL in the next year or two.

If Hackett got cut.. I wouldn't bat an eye... I think he is underperforming.

Sabres GM Tim Murray looking for older, character guys for roster. Says this free agent crop has plenty if that.

poop... tomorrow is about to get real... we might be more active than we think...

Apparently Moulson, Ott, and Gionta has already been in contact.

You don't understand the move??

Risto, Zads, Pysyk, McCabe, Ruhwedel are all better than him and he knows it. He probably asked not to be put in the AHL or to be our 7th man all year.

- JVince11

I don't think people understand how stacked our d corps really are.

I think Hackett has a tough go of it in Rochester this year, but I thought he held his own when he played here until he got hurt.

The injury makes things a bit more tough. But, it might also be a good thing for him. He may need to really go back to the basics because of it and that could actually help him really find his game again. It's easy to lose yourself through the process and this injury could be a blessing in disguise for him.

GM Tim Murray says again he has had talks with agents for Steve Ott and Matt Moulson. Doesn't know if Sabres are 1st on their list or 20th

- JVince11

He needs to overpay to get either. I think he will.

Way to much upside to Hackett, I would still give him more time

Yes, we have a considerable amount of young talented D in the pipe. But the talent drops off considerably as well after those guys. There's not a ton of depth if one or two of them don't actually pan out.

Sabres GM Tim Murray says he'll be offering one- or two-year deals because he doesn't want prospects to be blocked by aging vets.

Obviously, don't expect RFA offer sheets from Sabres. No way they would ever forfeit possible first overall draft pick for a guy.

I hope he wont only offer deals for that term. Matty Mo needs 5 or 6.

Too early to tell. The real piece of that trade is Compher. He's a few years away from being an NHLer still.

This talent is pooled over a good amount of years though, if one doesn't pan out there will be future draft picks taking their place, the future of the sabres blue line is nothing but deep

Would love to have Gionta here for one or two years. Good veteran leader and I think he'd be a good mentor for some of our smaller forwards(namely Ennis)

I'd be happy signing Moulson, Gionta, and Orpik to help fill olut our roster. Those three combined might cost ~12 mil (Moulson 6mil, Orpik and Gionta 3mil, just my guess), and we'd only be about 8 mil under the floor, with all our RFAs to sign still.
