By hockey trade Nill means you take Erik Cole or Horcoff:

Ottawa: Horcoff, Jason Richardinson, 2nd rounder 2015
Dallas: Spezza

I mean, I really don't wanna feed the hate but, WTF MAN! Next question, when were u dropped and from how high? If Murray made that trade I would drive from Halifax to Ottawa, walk into Murray house, and soccer kick him in the taint.

This is exactly like the Heatley trade is playing out - public announcement of the trade, failed draft day deal to a team on the no trade lost, player doesn't want to come back and the team dosnt want him back, same GM, same need to spend in free agency, lowered expectations on the return of the player

Remember when we thought Heatley was going to LA for the #5 overall pick and Jack Johnson - people who think Spezza is getting a dream return are just that, in dream land

Heater had a much more restrictive nmc than spezza ,we can trade him to 19 teams and he cant say boo to it .Heater had a nmc he controlled where he wanted to go fully .Different dude

A young player who is cheaper, faster and more skilled then Spezza - Scwartz, Oshie, Shattenkirk, - we are not getting a building block piece back for Spezza, we are getting parts like we did in the Heatley trade, warm bodies with some skill like Michalek and thats about it.

not to mention the fact that heatley gave the sens permission to speak to edmonton, actually went to edmonton to speak to the team, and THEN said he wouldn't waive to go.

in typical tuna fashion, gets 8% of the story, and derives his own conclusions.

So your saying a one for one trade for one of the players you named above is considered a dream returns?

It's not about getting a dream return, it's about a realistic return. It has been stated on more than one occasion that the Heatley situation and Spezza situation are so far apart WRT the outlying details. (Limited NTC/Full NMC) From what it sounds, a lot of what is playing out is more in relation to future salary cap restrictions (team planning for the future due to the cap only forecasted to rise 5% instead of the 7-10%) and Murray not biting on the mediocre offers put forth like the Pens/Nash deal. I am more than content if they stand pat until something better comes across the table. That all being said I would expect the sky to fall before seeing Spezza in a Sens jersey come training camp. Although, stranger things have happened. (i.e- Clarkson deal)

Add to this ,that its pretty much a given Spezza wants Stlouis and will more than likely resign there, so this one year rental BS is also debunked

Yes, Michalke in Ottawa was a total of -36 with 105 goals in 5 season of hockey - this is what I mean by lowering expectations on the return, we are not going to be getting a player that can be with us in a top 6 role for 7 years, we will get a solid 5-8 forward prospect (Richardinson, Samuelson) a a salary dump who gives us 82 games of disappointing hockey (Horcoff, Cheechoo) and a middling pick - just like in the Heatley trade,.

even if he wasn't, murray has 19 teams, several of who are interested, to deal with.

anyone who claims this is like the heatley trade, probably doesn't know who heatley is, and thinks we're talking about soccer.

Yes, Spezza wants a long term deal out of this - 5 years $30 million I would stay is the starting point in talks - so it is attractive to know you'll have him long term but he also has the back issues and hasn't been the most durable solider

MICHALEK! Spell check your poop homie. You make it sound like Michalek was a bust. He avg 18 goals over 5 seasons playing on a team that has had questionable goaltending, questionable coaching, and one of the more "Ovechkin" style centers in the game. If you told me back when that Heatley mess was ongoing that we would get a somewhat serviceable 20 goal scorer I would've told you to mail me the poop you were smoking.

All that being said, I remember a certain Ottawa captain having injury concerns but was still extended. It happens man, ppl like to take a chance on a career 60% face-off center that averages a point-per-game.
