Boom!

Although as much as I love that thought something needs to be said about a 7 million dollar defenseman who needs his penalty kill minutes reduced.

They're hard minutes is all I'm saying---and Polak will help with those. As for the other end that Gunnarson provides, I think both Rielly and Gardiner can replace those minutes, ie. taking on more of a role and doing it better than Gunner. More than that, I think Polak is one tough hombre to play against....

Phaneuf - Polak: Phaneuf back on his offensive, high-risk/high-reward game.

Phaneuf - Rielly/Gardiner: Phaneuf continues to play a more mature/predictable low-risk/low-reward game.

That's how I see it playing out next year if we don't land another top 4 defenseman.

I like the trade, Polak is a guy I thought would have been a good fit last year. It's a bigger shake up than most people probably think, Gunnar (along with Kulemin) is the longest serving Leaf on the team, so there will be a noticeable change in the room in September.

It's already done. Nonis is just waiting for after the draft to announce it.

We have to go back to failed players on our team.
