Sharp is a 0.62/G in the playoffs, Bickell is a 0.59/G player in the playoffs. That's pretty much even... - L_B_R
Sharp led the Hawks in scoring to get Chicago to the playoffs too. |

So lets be real here....
You aren't getting much IF anything back for Versteeg.
So that leaves:
Oduya
Sharp
Leddy
Bickell
Rozsival
As probably the main trade chips. So before we continue the Spezza, or Stasny, or Nielsen love...do the math on cap geek and know right now the Hawk are NOT compliant with the cap.
And also know the return wont' be as high for any trade as it would IF the cap came in at, at least 70 million.
What an absolute kick in the nuts. - SteveRain
I think your wrong about that....more like a couple of kicks!
Spezza? Stasny?....
Sharp is the hwk walking dead: he is certainly gone if not this weekend...certainly by this time next year!!
StanBow has the for sale sign out on Johnny O. Versteeg might get you a bag with out the pucks!

If I understand it right the Flyers can be 4.9mil over and drop Pronger to LTIR on the first day of the season and be fine. They have a little more room to work with than the other 3. - vipeviper
You guys have 19 players signed...I guess you are OK, a bit tight though. |

Canadian dollar is weaker now than when the new TV deal was originally set, so that lowers the impact it has on profits when converted to USD. - L_B_R
And the idiots in the league office couldn't understand or project this.
Inexcusable to be off by $3MM. |

Sit on your hands Stan in full force
But he'll just keep dishing out sweetheart contracts to guys like bollig and crawford
Really afraid to hear the toews and kane deals now - FourFeathers773
bollig's contract is sickening 1.25 mil for a goon that was part of the downfall of the 4th line in the playoffs....morin is 5x the player bollig is...and yes i realize he has a role on the team bc there are a bunch of pansies who can't stand up for themselves on the hawks roster but why not sign him for under 1mil...is the market for goons really that small??? |

NHL is run by clowns. Not anything new. No wonder it's a 2nd tier sport still. And I LOVE hockey...both my sons dumped baseball to play hockey. Hell, I even moved to an area so my oldest could compete in hockey. But still...until it's run as big time, it won't be big time. |

If we need to trade Bollig I think we could. Hell, we traded John Scott and he can't even skate. |

Career #'s are deceiving.
In 2014, Playoffs Sharp is a third line winger getting paid top 6 $$. |

Hawks are 490k over. drop someone to rockford and you can recoup 900k in cap room. step back from the ledge. Maybe chicago doesnt carry 8 dmen this next season - ikeane
yes that is an option but it leaves the Hawks right where they left off...with an incomplete top 6 and a weak 3rd defense pair |

True and not true. Almost no one would fight Scott. So he was useless. Bollig isn't a very good fighter and is a very suspect hockey player at this level. He only got the call because of his physical element and YES he's overpaid. |

How can we all be so upset and disappointed? I think most of us expected nothing and it's becoming clearer that's probably what we will get. Get the band back together Colin Fraser and Jake Dowell anyone...that should maker Kane want to stay right? I'm not so upset about today but the overwhelming pattern of our prospects, picks, or aging productive veterans are too valuable.
I think the outlook it still positive for the franchise, the cupboards are pretty well stocked with bottom 6ish forwards, but not bonafode guys who will fill the holes we do/will have...a 2c and 1st/2nd line wings to replace Sharp and Hossa. The d and g prospects are non-existent or marginal in most cases.
I'm not jumping off cliffs based on things, just hoping we do more than replace crap with newer crap and dump cash because we had no foresight. |
