Not sure what's so funny? Jettison Kesler, pay Ballard, Luongo, Totrarella and Gillis not to be part of the team, the 'brothers' locked up in long term deals ..... - paulr
They have to get rid of everyone to pay for everyone they got rid of |

Good news is...we are not the only team that will have to dump salary. LA will be a shell of itself when all is said and done. - CBHawks88
LA only has 3 spots to fill with $3.6m in space. They don't need to do much. |

The teams really screwed and correct me if I am wrong are
Chicago
Pittsburgh
Boston
Those 3 teams are in cap hell. - kwolf68
And Philly.
Boston is in bad shape.
Lots of trades tonight...Floor teams will be circling......a buyers market. |

This year they are OK. Next year is a different story. |

@TheHockeyChat: The Chicago Blackhawks are actively trying to move out roster. Sharp and Hossa are two names that are being discussed #NHL
How legit is this guy? - captainserious
Zero, because if he knew anything about Hossa, he would know the cap hit is almost as horrible to let him go as it is to keep him.

No rumor went awry here:
@DarrenDreger: Kesler's agent, Kurt Overhardt has high praise for Canucks GM Jim Benning. Says Benning worked very hard with the 2 teams given (Chi-Ana).
Also proves the message from the Hawk FO about cap space concerns was BS. They were in this deal until the end. - Return of the Roar
I think the Hawks were in it but from the beginning their package wasn't as good...
And the Draft pick was better as well with Ana.
I don't think Anaheim was Kelser's first choice but I don't think there was much of a decision for Benning/Linden otherwise.

As long as it's not a NY team we're shopping him to. |

I'm picturing Stan in the War Room like Sean Connery in "Hunt for Red October", running the formulas in his head before the sub goes "out of the lane". We've heard from many that he's scary smart with his Finance degree from ND - tonight's math-on-the-fly will be a good time to prove it.

Remember how I used to say.....there will not be more than 2 rookies on a Q coached team....
......yes..forget I said that - UnnamedSource
Ha! I was thinking the same. May be forced to play some guys he didn't want to. Morin may see more time this year...Nordy too. |

Trade Sharp for picks, Leddy for picks, and Rozy for a bag of pucks.

Most rookies wouldn't play any worse than Kris Versteeg did last year anyway. |

No one gives a (frank) about the regular season. Bicks, unlike Sharp, shows up when it matters most. |

So lets be real here....
You aren't getting much IF anything back for Versteeg.
So that leaves:
Oduya
Sharp
Leddy
Bickell
Rozsival
As probably the main trade chips. So before we continue the Spezza, or Stasny, or Nielsen love...do the math on cap geek and know right now the Hawk are NOT compliant with the cap.
And also know the return wont' be as high for any trade as it would IF the cap came in at, at least 70 million.
What an absolute kick in the nuts. |

>Big market teams should have negotiated a "cap cushion" during the new CBA of a few million dollars
>More Qs for the hard-hitting Chicago hockey journalists to ask: How the (frank) does the NHL wait this long to release the Cap #? And for McD, SBow and that unified front office, when did the Hawks actually know what the Cap # was? And what was the Hawks Cap projection prior to actually knowing? |

Bickell did again this year in the playoffs. 10 stopped playing when he made CAN's Olympic roster. |

Agrreed.
However, you don't have internal replacements for either. No large wingers and no goalies. So both can't really be moved.
