I´m Finn too like Olli is but never want to see him as a Blackhawk! I´d rather see Leino in Hawks uniform and I´m not hoping for that one either. |

Roszival, Leddy, Versteeg - $7.1MM
Move them and you have some room. - Return of the Roar
Less the cost of their replacements - at least $2MM at a minimum. |

No rumor went awry here:
@DarrenDreger: Kesler's agent, Kurt Overhardt has high praise for Canucks GM Jim Benning. Says Benning worked very hard with the 2 teams given (Chi-Ana). - Return of the Roar
I think Ana upped the deal with bonino and the hawks could have beaten it with saad (not TT) and chose not. I am cool with that. |

If the cap is $68, and if Stastny wants $7, Hawks have to shed close to $11 in salaries (net of minimum replacement costs) to get there.
Who and how? - StLBravesFan
They are at 69.4 with 13 fs 7 d and 2 gs.
Sharp and Oduya. Maybe Rozsival is my bet.
That frees up 9 million...can't seel the cap going below 68 million. At 70 would be nice. 71 would be golden.
Again.....I would guess you write off Spezza as I can't see Murray retaining salary UNLESS the hawks over pay in prospect/pick t do so.
Most likely their only hope fo r2c is to dump salary, run at Stasny OR trade for one tonight....
Off to Binnys and to drink.
See everyone on Monday. Hope they make some moves worth discussing. |

"One bounce away" is a meme so ingrained that it's now propaganda. I expect a marketing campaign to be ramped up any day now.
The Hawks got THOROUGHLY outskated by the Wild ... had Crawford not stolen that series, the Hawks get bounced in Round 2. Wild were a BETTER team in that series...#50 totally stole it.
Hawks have major issues with the cap, center, depth...but "we were one bounce away"...all giddy and happy now!!!!! - kwolf68
There is plenty to like about this Hawks team, for sure. I don't think they need to blow it up, like the Canucks are in the process of doing. But damn...let's stop with the 'one bounce away'. The hawks were one bounce away from losing in the first round, like you said. Damn near down 3-1 in the series coming out of a Game 4, before Bicks deflection went thru Miller.
It doesn't need to be dismantled, but adjustments need to be made. Admit that and everyone is happy. |

Just over 3 hours until the draft. We'll know if JJ's rumor comes true. Would be nice. |

I want to forget the Minnesota series. We deserved to lose it, but Crow stood on his head. All you hear about from the "One bouncers" is how CROW'S salary is holding us back.
Reality check, people: We didn't play well enough to get past the first round, but got LUCKY through 2, and saved by our Rodney Dangerfield "no respect" goaltender you all love to bash. Bowman WILL be Bowman, and we WILL get our usual heaping of castor oil summer signings of dumpster leavin's. |

Sorry dude, I know where you're going with this, but can you (and everyone) PLEASE stop with the one bounce away rhetoric. It's moral victory stuff. - eburgio
yes, the red wings could say the same thing when we won the cup last year. did that make them serious contenders this year? no. |

Quick question: If the cap is indeed going to be lower, it would stand to reason the Toews and Kane numbers should fall a little as well, yes? The standard thought was it would be based on a % of the cap, so if the cap number falls theirs should drop as well...not that it helps that much but every bit will help. |

I'll channel my anger.....NOW, but by Wednesday norning, we better see some signs of life.
What has set me into rage mode is all along it was 50-50 and Bowman lost out. It's that simple. For a guy who is Toews light, and would have given you 2 top centers who play COMPLETE 200 ft games.
Spezza wouldn't know his own end if he fell of f the bench and landed on his @ss in the zone.
Stasny wants at least 6.6 and somebody may throw HUGE money at him...and he may take less to go home to STL.
So now you are back to trading.....and I wish them luck at that. - SteveRain

The over dramatization of this team, and how horrible it is, is downright pathetic. |

Spezza is all O...not a complete package.
Didn't Kesler win the Selke? And have a 40 goal season? I think he did. |

Also proves the message from the Hawk FO about cap space concerns was BS. They were in this deal until the end. - Return of the Roar
Where does that remotely state that they didn't have cap concerns?????? |

eburgio didn't say anything about it being pathetic. Said it was good, but some things needed to be done to sure up the squad. Just because someone isn't singing the theme to the Sound of Music doesn't mean they think the team sucks.
Other teams have gotten better...many of us think the hawks need to (shudder to think) get better. We don't need mass changes, but a couple smart moves here and there are absolutely needed. |

Keep drinking the QoolAid. We played like crap most of the playoffs ... nothing but luck that we got that far. If they Blues had played to 80% of their capabilities, we would have been gone in the 1st round ... and WOULD have, if not for Crawford. - Q...argh
Not to dig too deep into this, but the Hawks play after New Years had me stunned by the run they made in the playoffs. |
