What would have been overpay?
Leddy and a prospect and 27?
or
Kruger, a higher prospect (Not TT) and 27?
or
Teuvo a crap prospect AND 27?
I'm just curious what supposed overpay you are referring to?
Please enlighten us. - SteveRain
None of those are better than Ana offer. |

There's still a significant chance that the Hawks upgrade their center ice position before the day is up.
While Kesler would've been a good fit for the hawks, because of his 2-way play, if you had Nick Bonino as the Hawks 2C this year, they would've been markedly improved over what they had. So, maybe the deal w/Florida goes down and they snag Bennett or Reinhart as the 2C of the future. Or maybe they swing a trade with someone else. - eburgio
Does Stan go after Bonino now? I could live with that. |

I can you tell without question....they made an offer and at the end wouldn't budge from their offer. - SteveRain

They need help at Center .
They were not just a bounce away from winning a back to back cup.
They were man handled down the middle .
OWNED by the Kings . - mrpaulish
exactly... the people that throw that tired old statement around don't want to also acknowledge we were a 'bounce away' from getting throttled 4 games 1 |

I love the lucky bounce talk regarding the WCF's....novel concept but we shouldn't have needed the "lucky bounce" if we were built right (up the middle). |

Bonino + Spiza + 27th is an overpay? - Hawks82
Leddy, Saad and a first IS an overpay for a player who has injury concerns, and would have destroyed your cap. |

This Sartrelli guy seems interesting...tell me more. - DarthKane
Well I think he should be the main target now that Kesler is in Disneyland. Or maybe that guy from Islanders. Frank Drebin was his name right? |

FO doing what it has done best during trade times - overvaluing its prospects. - Return of the Roar
Backs the suggestion JJ has often made concerning the Hawks view of their own prospects. |

Maybe not.....
Point is...what is this HUGE overpay the Hawks shyed away from? That's my point.
If Van was adamant about Saad....fine. No problem.
If it was Teuvo? Yeah, big problem. |

Concerning Ryan Kesler, Blackhawks were interested but the impact on the cap was a concern, specially for the 15-1f season. |

And mind boggling goal tending by Crow from going out in Round 2.
ALSO, had the Hawks beaten the Kings we may have played the finals MINUS Hammer and Oduya. It's very speculative to say the Hawks minus those two guys beat the Rangers. |

NO WAY!!!
Or what I've been saying round these parts for WEEKS throughout this whole rumor-gate. They simply weren't going to overpay for Kesler from a prospect/player perspective or the fact that they'd be pummeling their cap.

I think Ana offer is equivalent or better than leddy, TT, and 1st. I don't get how the hawks could have crushed Ana offer without including saad. For the record, I'm disappointed the hawks didn't get Kesler but Ana gave a fair offer. Hawks would have to overpay and I'm glad they didn't. |

Minny gave them a run for their money too the series before.
I almost wish the Hawks would have lost in 5 to LA. I guarantee the attitude by everyone would me totally different. - Dannyboy
LA went 7 games in every series before the Final...being pushed in the playoffs isn't an indictment on a team. No one walks through the playoffs. Sure being "a bounce away" may make some people on message boards feel a certain way but trust me, in front offices and board rooms a loss is a loss. Margin of error is thin for every team come May/June. |

Sure. Bonino's cap hit is only $1.9 million until the end of the 16/17 season. He could be a true value. |
