Would like to have that discussion with whoever said the cap would rise by 14 million over the next two years. LMMFAO.
Canucks return on Kesler suspect...can't believe Hawks couldn't beat that. And if Canucks are that hell bent on not dealing with Chicago they are a bigger joke organization than I first thought. Though I doubt that's what it is...I think they wanted TT and Stanley couldn't get it done.
Stan can only trade with the same 4 or 5 GMs in the NHL...expect a deal with Winnipeg or Florida as that's two of the only teams he can get anything done with. |

The league projected the cap at $71M nothing more. - paulr
If they put out a projection like that, they are telling teams it's ok to spend to that, because that's where the cap is likely to be.
Otherwise - why would they put out a projection?
They didn't give a range - say, $68-$72 - they have put a flat number.
But - again - it's still an "if". |

If (IF) the cap is at $68, some heads must roll in the league office: you can't tell teams it's ok to spend to $71, and have it come in at $3MM less. - StLBravesFan
>Just a ridiculous hurdle to put teams through
>What kind of a league can't have its cap figure days before their draft?
>Hawks and their following are doing the entire NHL a favor in playing the Winter Classic to ensure top TV ratings for advertisers
>Teams that spend to the cap are getting hosed by this late cap figure
>Time for McD and Rocky to push-back on Bettman
>Time for the teams that actually produce the $ for the league to draw a line in sand and say "that's enough" -- if small market teams can't hack it -- too f'ng bad

The armchair GMing going on here is unreal. The truth is that none of you actually know what's going on behind closed doors with relation to trades/signings/etc. Rumors are just that...rumors. |

Bonino is nice player, don't sell him short. - dan9189
Sbisa was in the press box for all but 2 of Anaheim's playoff games. Bonino is a good young center on the rise, scored 22 goals. Doesn't seem like a big return
I was selling Sbisa short, what part of good young center in the rise who scored 22 goals is selling him short

Red font missing?? Wasnt everybody in Hawk land complaining last week when they heard that McD MIGHT possibly be meddling around in hockey personell decisions? - BlazinMike
Last week? We've been on this topic for a few years now, ever since a supposed trade with Montreal fell apart because the Hawks took too long to get back to them. |

Anh won that trade without question.
When a bona-fide complete 2c gives you a 50-50 shot at acquiring him, and the cost now is KNOWN to be cheap, and you lose? A joke.
Anaheim kept best prospect AND their top 10 pick.
Way to go Stanley.....keep proving your worth. Fing clown. |

Ducks also have BUCKET LOADS of money to do even more. They could put together an even better team if they work things right.
Coaching or not, my pick for Cup next year is Anaheim. |

Bonino did have 22 goals this year and is 1.9 mil for the next three years and last time I checked 24 th pick is better than 27 th, plus he is NHL ready now |

You lost me. The cap is directly tied to the Canadian dollar, are you suggesting because the Leafs made a bad signing the canadian dollar took a nosedive? - paulr
I dont know what I'm suggesting anymore, falling Canadian dollar is not Bettmans fault completely, I dont like Bettman so perhaps i was trying to find a way to blame him but didnt quite find the last puzzle piece. Ill work on it and get back to you |

I still expect the #Blackhawks to be making moves today, much like the Bolland deal last year. Need to shed salary. Oduya a possible option.
Awesome, our big moves on the way! Salary dump time! |

Because he is using that as an excuse, that is why. - powerenforcer
No, because apparently no one in the league finance group took the possibity that would happen into account. Those things usually aren't surprises: do some research and see how much pressure your currency is under. |
