If the cap ends up at $68 mil the Hawks are about $1.4 over it as they stand now. |

I wouldn't be surprised if someone signs Statsny to $8 mil per. He would cause a cap armageddon here in a year, even at $6.6 mil he made last year. If we do get the #1 pick just take the best center. There are 3-4 that are supposed to be excellent. Although that might not help this year. Or they could deal that pick to Ottawa for Spezza and pick/player. - Hemingways
What the Hawks need is a time machine to go back and use that #1 overall on MacKinnon. |

and yet AGAIN! the "sources" are wrong!!!! kelser to ana,, for what doesn't seem like much,,, tood bad the hawks missed out on him he woud have killed it next to kane |

@Real_ESPNLeBrun: Anaheim will trade Bonino, Sbisa plus 24th overall pick and teams will swap third-rounders once deal goes through - captainserious
If that's all we had to match, I am angry |

Another way to go Stan moment...should have given them TT - whatever Bowman can't make a trade to save his butt. |

Yep, lot of people missing the point. If that's the final number, the Hawks #2C will be Andrew Shaw. This is bad news. |

Based on what @Real_ESPNLeBrun is tweeting, Vancouver's return for Ryan Kesler, Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider isn't exactly a gold mine.
nick bonino, lucas sbisa, 24th overall pick, bo horvat, jakob marsktrom, and shawn matthias
for
Luongo, Kesler, Schneider |

Honestly maybe the Nucks really had no intentions of trading him to Chicago in first place. |

Maybe he couldn't due to cap issues or didn't want to because he something else lined up? Who knows. Right now I know who's team is and isn't eff'd ..... |

If the cap is $68 million that explains why Stan didn't acquire Kesler. |

Bonino took a step up this last year with 49 points. Kruger isn't as productive on offense (not very productive yet on offense at all).
If they insisted on a young center, that's the deal. Especially if the Hawks refused to include TT.

Now, they pretty much need to find a taker for at least Versteeg or Roszival. |

Yep, unless the deal with Florida is real and comes through. But the attraction of drafting a center on an ELC has to be very strong compared to $5 mil for Kessler.

If (IF) the cap is at $68, some heads must roll in the league office: you can't tell teams it's ok to spend to $71, and have it come in at $3MM less.
